It’s not a coincidence that Mental Health Awareness Month and Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month are both celebrated in the month of May. And as a Korean American living on the east coast, I have been (im)patiently waiting for more Asian celebrations to happen at my favorite place in the world, Walt Disney World. At a leader in diversity and inclusion, it’s been so important to share my Korean heritage with my kids – and allow them to see and be proud of more Asian representation in their lives.
Disneyland gets Lunar New Year parades, meet and greets and special food offerings – why can’t we? I think Disney Parks is finally hearing us…loud and clear.
As AAPI Heritage Month rolls out for the month of May, Disney Parks is celebrating the second “A World of Voices” celebration – highlighting a Disney dream come true for this Asian mom. I’m sharing the 60 best AAPI Heritage Month Things to Do at Walt Disney World – from magical meet and greets to rare character sightings, delicious eats and limited time offerings. See how Disney is celebrating big for 2023 and beyond, recognizing the magic of Asian American Pacific Islanders from around the world, right here in Florida.

This was beyond a Disney dream come true. To finally see more Asian representation, even at Walt Disney World means so much to the child who rarely got to see a Mulan ANYTHING at the parks. For my daughter to see a whole parade float of AAPI Disney Princesses, to hugging Moana and Raya (please bring a Raya and the Last Dragon meet and greet to WDW!), A World of Voices 2023 is magical and a huge step in the right direction of celebrating all of the AAPI magic at the parks year round. Let’s make #AWorldofVoices a permanent addition to Walt Disney World.
Now can we get a Lunar New Year celebration at Walt Disney World too? Please and thank you.
