Yes, I know that I’m a quarter of the way into the new year and desperately behind – as always. But my little blog wouldn’t be the same without my yearly list of new Disney releases.
Anyway, it’s one of my favorite times of the year, the 2024 Disney Movie Line Up List time. As your typical type-A Asian woman, I’m making my entertainment to-do list and checking it twice. Got to find out which movies and TV shows are must-sees for the year…and which ones to avoid like my teen son’s gym clothes.

List of 2024 Disney Movies and Series in Order of Release Date
Echo | January 9, 2024 – A Hawkeye spin-off miniseries under the Marvel Spotlight banner follows Maya Lopez as she is pursued by Wilson Fisk’s (aka Kingpin) criminal empire. All 5 episodes premiere on Disney+ streaming on January 9, 2024 and on Hulu starting April 9, 2024. Starring Alaqua Cox (“Hawkeye”) Vincent D’Onofrio (“Men in Black“) as Wilson Fisk, along with Chaske Spencer (“The English”), Graham Greene (“Dances with Wolves”), Tantoo Cardinal (“Killers of the Flower Moon”), K. Devery Jacobs (“Rhymes for Young Ghouls”), Zahn McClarnon (FX’s “Reservation Dogs”), and Cody Lightning (“Four Sheets to the Wind”).
Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 3 | February 21, 2024 – 15 new episodes of the popular Star Wars animated series for the Lucasfilm 3rd and final season drop on Disney+ starting Wednesday February 21st with a finale premiere on May 1st. Starring Dee Bradley Baker (“Phineas and Ferb“), Michelle Ang (“Neighbours“), Keisha Castle-Hughes (“Whale Rider“), Jimmi Simpson (“Westworld“), Noshir Dalal (“Red Dead Redemption II“), and Wanda Sykes (“Ice Age: Collision Course“).
Iwájú | February 28 2024 – In a first of it’s kind collaboration Walt Disney Animation and Kugali (a Pan-African comic book entertainment company) join together for an all-new futuristic Nigerian inspired animated television series produced by Christina Chen (“Encanto“), Jennifer Lee (“Frozen“), and Byron Howard (“Zootopia“). Starring Simisola Gbadamosi as Tola, along with Dayo Okeniyi (“The Hunger Games” franchise) as Tunde, Femi Branch (“Késárí the King“) as Bode, Siji Soetan as Kole and Weruche Opia (BBC’s “I May Destroy You“) as robotic lizard Otin. All 6 episodes stream exclusively on Disney+ starting Wednesday February 28, 2024.
X-Men ’97 | March 20, 2024 – It’s not a remake. Honoring the old 1997 X-Men original animated series with 10 all-new episodes for 2024 – this new Disney+ series amps everything up while still maintaining the vision of the beloved original. Characters include Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, Wolverine, Morph, Rogue, Beast, Gambit, Jubilee, Bishop, Magneto, and Nightcrawler. All 10 episodes begin streaming on Disney+ on March 20, 2024.
Renegade Nell | March 29, 2024 – From Happy Valley’s Sally Wainwright comes a new Disney+ action/adventure fantasy original series. Starring Louisa Harland (“Derry Girls“) as notorious outlaw Nell Jackson with Nick Mohammed (“Ted Lasso”), Frank Dillane (“Fear the Walking Dead“), Adrian Lester (“The Day After Tomorrow“), Alice Kremelberg (“Orange is the New Black“), Jake Dunn (“Get Even“), Joely Richardson (“Nip/Tuck“), Pip Torrens (“The Crown“), and Enyi Okoronkwo (“The Lazarus Project“). All 8 episodes is streaming exclusively on Disney+ starting Friday March 29, 2024.
Madu | March 29 2024 – this all-new Disney documentary film follows 12-year old Anthony Madu and his dream as he leaves his family and community in Nigeria to study at one of the most prestigious ballet schools in the world in England. Directed by Matt Ogens (“Audible“) and Joel Kachi Benson. Streaming on Disney+.
The First Omen | April 5, 2024 – From 20th Century Studios is a psychological horror prequel to The Omen 2006 film. Starring Nell Tiger Free (“Game of Thrones“), Tawfeek Barhom (“Mary Magdalene“), Sonia Braga (“Kiss of the Spider Woman“), Ralph Ineson (“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1“), and Bill Nighly (“Love Actually“).
Disneynature’s Tiger | April 22, 2024 – premiering on Earth Day exclusively on Disney+, the all-new Disneynature film (15 years after the first Disneynature movie “Earth”) follows tigress Ambar as she raises her young cubs in the forests of India. Narrated by Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
Star Wars: Tales of the Empire | May 4, 2024 – Director Dave Filoni (“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story“) returns with 6 new animated episodes in the 2nd installment and follow up to the 2022 Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi with the dark side of the force. Voice cast includes Diana Lee Inosanto (“Ahsoka“) as Morgan Elsbeth, Meredith Salenger (“Hollywood Heights“) as Barriss Offee, Rya Kihlstedt (“Home Alone 3“) as Lyn aka Fourth Sister, Wing T. Chao (“The Mandalorian“) as Wing, Lars Mikkelsen (“Sherlock“) as Thrawn, Jason Isaacs (“Harry Potter” film series) as Grand Inquisitor and Matthew Wood (“Lego Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures“) as General Grievous. Streaming exclusively on Disney+.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes | May 10, 2024 – an all-new action adventure film from the 20th Century Studios franchise is coming to theaters this summer. Starring Owen Teague (“It“), Freya Allen (“The Witcher“), Kevin Durand (“X-Men Origins: Wolverine“), Peter Macon (“The Orville“), and William H. Macy (“Fargo“).
Doctor Who | May 10, 2024 – aka season 14 of BBC’s Dr. Who is technically the new “season 1” since Disney+ obtained the rights. Starring Ncuti Gatwa (“Barbie“) as the Fifteenth Doctor and Millie Gibson (“Coronation Street“) as the doctor’s companion Ruby Sunday. 8 episodes will be released weekly on Disney+ starting May 10th.
The Beach Boys | May 24, 2024 – this all-new music documentary is a celebration of the legendary band that revolutionized pop music, and the iconic, harmonious sound they created that personified the California dream, captivating fans for generations and generations to come. Streaming exclusively on Disney+.
Young Woman and the Sea | May 31, 2024 – tells the true story of Trudy Ederle the first woman to swim the English Channel. Starring Daisy Ridley (“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker“), Tilda Cobham-Hervey (“Hotel Mumbai“), Stephen Graham (“This is England“), Kim Bodnia (“The Bridge“), Christopher Eccleston (BBC’s “Dr. Who“), and Glenn Fleshler (“Boardwalk Empire“). Coming to theaters as a special engagement on May 31st.
Star Wars: The Acolyte | June 4, 2024 – Lucasfilm’s new live action original TV series as an investigation into a crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master against a warrior from his past. Starring Amandla Stenberg (“The Hate U Give“), Lee Jung-jae (“Squid Games“) Manny Jacinto (“Top Gun: Maverick“), Dafne Keen (“Logan“), Charlie Barnett (“Chicago Fire“), Jodie Turner Smith (“White Noise“), Rebecca Henderson (“Single Drunk Female“), Dean-Charles Chapman (“Game of Thrones“), Joonas Suotamo (“Solo: A Star Wars Story“), and Carrie Ann Moss (“The Matrix“). The first two episodes premiere on Disney+ on June 4th.
Inside Out 2 | June 14, 2024 – All of the emotions for Pixar’s Inside Out animated film sequel coming to theaters on June 14th. Joining Joy, Anger, Sadness, Fear, and Disgust are new emotions starring Maya Hawke (“Stranger Things“) as Anxiety, Ayo Edebiri (“The Bear“) as Envy, Adèle Exarchopoulos (“Blue Is The Warmest Color“) as Ennui, and Paul Walter Hauser (“Cruella“) as Embarrassment.
Descendants: The Rise of Red | July 12, 2024 – this 4th installment in the popular Disney Channel franchise stars China Anne McClain as Uma along with new comers Kylie Cantrall (“High School Musical: The Musical the Series“) as Red and Malia Baker (“The Baby-Sitters Club“) as Chloe. Descendants 4 will feature 7 new original songs, 2 reprises and 1 cover of “So This Is Love” from the classic animated “Cinderella” film Streaming on Disney+.
Deadpool & Wolverine | July 26, 2024 – The highly anticipated Deadpool 3 sequel is coming this summer to theaters. Starring Ryan Reynolds (“Free Guy“), Hugh Jackman (“The Greatest Showman“), Emma Corrin (“The Crown“), Morena Baccarin (“Firefly“), Rob Delaney (“Argylle“), Leslie Uggams (“American Fiction“), Karan Soni (“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse“), and Matthew Macfayden (“Pride & Prejudice“).
Alien: Romulus | August 16, 2024 – The sci-fi/horror thriller is taking the Alien franchise back to its roots in an all-new film – exclusively in theaters this summer. Starring Cailee Spaeny (“Priscilla“), David Jonsson (“Rye Lane“), Archie Renaux (“Shadow and Bone“), Isabella Merced (“Dora and the Lost City of Gold“), Spike Fearn (“Aftersun“), and Aileen Wu.
Agatha All Along | September 18, 2024 – It was Agatha all along! Kathryn Hahn (“WandaVision“) is back as Agatha Harkness this fall with her own Marvel miniseries formally named “Agatha: Darkhold Diaries”. See all episodes streaming exclusively on Disney+.
The Amateur | November 8, 2024 – The all new 20th Century Studios American espionage action thriller film is coming to theaters this fall – directed by James Hawes and written by Gary Spinelli.
Moana 2 | November 27, 2024 – a new feature length animated sequel to the 2016 Walt Disney Animation’s Moana is voyaging into theaters this Thanksgiving 2024. And yes, it will be a musical. You’re welcome!
Mufasa: The Lion King | December 20 2024 – A prequel sequel anyone? The beloved Disney The Lion King is back in theaters this December 2024 with a new animated film.
