Family Travel 3 Most Important Bags to Pack In Your Suitcase
School is almost out and I know everyone is going to bustling around getting ready for that BIG family vacation. Knowing that this is the last chance we have to take a family vacation before my son starts Kindergarten next year (and will be keeping him IN school as much as possible), we want to make sure this family vacation is a GOOD one. But packing for the whole family can be STRESSFUL.
Well, I’ve learned a little secret about three ‘BAGS” to pack inside your suitcase. They take up practically NO room at all and can be life saving on your family adventures! This will take some of the stress out of your family vacation and hopefully let traveling be more enjoyable!
1. An EXTRA Quart Sized Plastic Zip Bag
It happens, and it has happened to me. You get to the airport and your quart sized bag that holds all of your travel liquids busts wide open. UGH! And this is just to the fly-to destination. Now what? Good thing I always pack an extra quart sized zip bag. Because bags break. And the last thing you want to do on vacay is try to find a store to buy a box of quart sized bags. Same some money, hassle and headache and pack an extra (or two if you have a large family) in your suitcase.
*One trick I do is pack one full of kids’ snacks. As they eat the snack, you hold onto the empty bag 🙂 In case you don’t need it, you can always refill with a kid snack for the travel home!
2. Travel Space Bags
I do this all of the time. You have everything very Type-A mom packed into the suitcase. Every nook and cranny filled with the exact items you need to bring with you. Then you get to the destination and you have to bring back that grass hula skirt. I know…I know…I fall for it every time.
Whoever invented Travel Space Bags is a genius. Make sure to tuck in a few into your suitcase next time. This will let the excess air out of your suitcase, allowing more room for those unexpected take-home goodies. And NO vacuum required!
3. A Garbage Bag
No, not for garbage. Packing this little gem is so important, no matter where you’re traveling. And not the plastic bag from the grocery store. Try to bring at least a kitchen sized bag, lawn and garden for heavy duty 🙂 Have really stinky laundry? Throw it in the garbage bag. Coming home with wet clothes that wouldn’t dry in time? Put in the garbage bag. Bringing home that beloved outdoors treasure? You see where I’m going with this? And having the garbage bag with you can protect your suitcase from any “traveling yucks” too!
So there you have it. My 3 MOST important “BAGS” to pack in your suitcase. You will NOT be sad that you did. And with very little room needed, these sure will come in handy next time you plan family travel!
