Festive Thanksgiving Snack That Kids Will Gobble Up

It’s hard to believe that in just a few weeks I will be taking down the china and my kids will be arguing over who gets to pass the gravy boat. How did Thanksgiving sneak up on us so quickly? And while we may be more focused on a very delicious menu plan for the holiday, my kids can feel a little left out of the festivities. So this year, I am taking a more kid-friendly approach to Thanksgiving with a Festive Thanksgiving Snack that kids will “gobble” up. Literally. See how these adorable Thanksgiving turkeys make the perfect snack (or appetizer) for your kids to enjoy this season, made easy with Frigo® Cheese Heads® Snacking Combos.

When a Snack is More Than Just a Snack

When my daughter began preschool this fall, I noticed right away that her appetite sky-rocketed. Snack at school, pre-lunch snack when we get home from school right into lunch and then another snack before dinner – this girl is a MONGREL now when it comes to eating. While giving her the crunchy stuff may keep her happy for short while, I know this little preschooler needs a lot more protein-rich snacks to keep her tummy full and happy for longer. Frigo® Cheese Heads® Snacking Combos provide that “more filling” snack between meals with a variety of tasty cheese and meat stick combos that are perfect for little hands.

Directions:

  1. Begin by placing 5 toothpicks in the middle of the round bottom area of the pear, about 1/2-3/4 inches apart. These will be your turkey’s tail feathers.
  2. Cut your cheese and meat sticks into bite sized pieces. Place cheese and meat pieces on toothpicks in desired design.
  3. Break 1 toothpick into quarters. Place 2 pieces into the top of the pear. Add two blueberries for the turkey’s eyes.
  4. Cut a piece of cheese into a triangle. Secure the turkey’s beak with a toothpick onto the pear.
  5. Cut strawberry into a thin triangle. Add to the side of the beak with a toothpick for the warble.
  6. ENJOY! (Be sure to remove toothpicks before eating.)
