The coolest fruit around is now the most adorable summer kids craft idea! Make this Pineapple Necklace Kids Craft, inspired by Disney’s Moana movie. May contain commissioned links Pineapple necklace kids craft

Pineapple Necklace Kids Craft

You know how people ask you those odd questions like “If you could be a fruit, what fruit would you be?” My answer is always the same. Pineapple. Definitely a pineapple. Tough outside, sweet inside and cool hair. Hands down, it’s a no-brainer best fruit out there.

As summer is in full swing, the coolest fruit around became the latest inspiration for this Pineapple Necklace Kids Craft. Completely adorable, right? A fun toddler/preschool craft to work on those fun motor skills and a sweet way to display an adorable necklace for summer, this little girl is LOVING her summer inspired crafts. Ready to make this FUN pineapple necklace?

I’ve been contemplating a pineapple craft forever. I must have summer on the brain too, because it probably took over a month to concoct this idea…and only a few minutes to execute. And the results couldn’t be more fun, especially for this little diva! This pineapple necklace would be perfect for your next summer themed party!

What You Will Need

  • Twine – I used a fun orange colored twine for contrast. But feel free to choose any color!
  • Yellow Buttons – a mix of fun shapes and shades – I used about 40
  • Green Felt
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Directions

Cut the end of the twine on a diagonal slant for easy threading. Then measure and cut the other end of the twine, making sure it’s long enough to slip over the head of your child when the ends are tied. Then begin by threading a few buttons onto the ribbon, enough to make a thick pineapple base (I used about 6-7). Push the buttons together and towards the bottom of your ribbon, tie a knot immediately above and below to hold the stack together.

Repeat the threading process, leaving a space (about a few inches) in between each stack of buttons. Make sure to secure knots between each stack to hold in place. When you have enough for a cute necklace (that can slip on and off your child’s head with ease), tie the ends of the ribbon together. Boom, already looking awesome.

Using your scissors, cut out the tops of the pineapples into funky “cool hair” shapes (might be easier to start with a trapezoid shape like this first – then shape), 2 for each button stack. No need to worry about exactness. Go wild.

Glue the pineapple tops to the tops of each button stack, one for each side of the string. Allow to dry. Seriously, that craft was so easy. DONE.

This is so cute! My girls would love to make these. It’s also a great way to use up left over buttons from sewing. They can make the pineapples in different colors.
