Oh the memories. Today I’m finally sharing my daughter’s magical 4th birthday – and I have misty eyes just thinking about it. This year, we nixed the birthday party and sprung for her first Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique princess transformation at Disney Springs.

I have seen, heard, and imagined what this experience would be like for years – but nothing could have prepared me for the actual day. My sweet baby girl suddenly grew up before my eyes – and we created princess perfect memories. In honor of one of my favorite memories ever, today I’m sharing our top 10 Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Tips for parents – so that you can make the most of your Disney princess moments.

Choose Your Location

The Walt Disney World area offers 2 locations for your Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique transformation (plus aboard the Disney Cruise ships!), each with it’s own pros and cons:

• Magic Kingdom
• Disney Springs

If you’re wanting to capture pictures of your Disney princess at the Happiest Place on Earth, Magic Kingdom offers lots of wonderful picturesque spots. Reservations can occur as early as 8 am (even before the park opens to guests some days). Magic Kingdom tickets and parking are required and not included with your appointment price. Also please note that Magic Kingdom appointments fill up quickly. But for those packing in as much magic into their trips as possible, this is a great option to have that unique Disney experience without ever leaving the parks.

Disney Springs offers a more affordable option for families. With free parking, a larger location area and easier last-minute reservations (even day of!), your child can still have the Disney magic without the added price tag. Less stress – one of my favorite Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique tips!

Reserve an Early Time

Maximize the time your princess gets to keep her royal look by booking an early reservation. Reservations can occur as early as 8 am (Magic Kingdom) and 8:45 am (Disney Springs). Not only do you get more daytime hours for pictures, but your little one will love admiring her look throughout the day. You can book a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique reservation up to 180 days before your visit for children (boys and girls) ages 3-12 years.

Pick Your Perfect Package Deal

As can be expected, the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique packages range from as low as $69.95 upwards to hundreds of dollars for a signature Disney princess look. I highly encourage you to grab the Crown Package, the $69.95 package. This package includes all of the royal treatment: makeup set, nail polish, sash, comb, Micky Mouse hair pin, sticker jewels, backpack, shampoo and hair cleaning instructions, and hairstyle (with possible crown if choosing the popular bun option) – but without the added princess dress, shoes, and accessories. When you bring your princess already pre-dressed, she won’t even miss them!

Prep for the Big Day

Excited for your princess transformation? Us too! We were counting down days. Get your child ready for her big day with these tips:

• Come with clean face, clean hair and clean nails. Make up and nail polish will be applied.
• Bring extra outfits. If your princess is anything like mine, she’ll change her mind about a billion times on her perfect dress for the day. Bring multiple dresses/shoes/accessories and have a super comfy outfit for the end of the day.

• Bring camera, phone and any other devices you plan on capturing the memories
• Snacks/Drinks – there may be waiting times in between.

Pre-Brush to Get Out the Tangles

This is one of my BIGGEST Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique tips for parents. My 4-year old has a very sensitive scalp, especially to knots! We pre-brushed her hair before heading into our appointment, bringing our own comb and detangler to the waiting room. Even if your child is not quite ready for the full Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique experience, you can still get sprinkled with magic! Anyone can walk into a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and ask for some “fairy dust.” Adding some sparkles to your head, it’s a great way to transition to the full deal when your child is ready (or just add a little free magic to your day).

Plan to Sit Still for at Least 30-60 Minutes

This may seem like an eternity if you have a little one, but those Fairy Godmothers are simply amazing. Soothing, talking and involving your child in the entire experience, the time really does fly by in the salon chair. I’ve never seen my 4-year old act so good…SO GOOD for an adult. She sat like a perfect princess the whole time. Not one complaint.

Immerse Yourself in the Experience

Be sure to allow yourself to enjoy the moment just as much as your child. There is seating for families (up to 2 adults + unlimited children) only a few feet away from the action.

Take Plenty of Pictures

I think I had over 500 pictures by the time she was finished with her salon chair. Make sure that your camera/phone is fully charged so you can capture those memories before, during and after! The new Disney Springs location offers a wonderful room with a mini pumpkin carriage backdrop for pictures as well.

Participate in the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Parade

Did you know that they have a FREE princess parade? The Disney Springs location hosts a fun BBB theme parade from the salon location to the carousel. Bonus: all princesses and princes who attend (don’t need to have a makeover to join in!) will get a FREE carousel ride! Be sure to meet outside of the Boutique at 1:45 pm to join the fun!
