40 Reasons to See the Walt Disney World Hoop Dee Doo Revue Review
Did you know that the beloved Walt Disney World show the The Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue is celebrating it’s 40th anniversary? That’s 40 years of smiling folks coming to visit, eat, relax, and be entertained, Disney style! To honor this 40th celebration and my first ever visit, I picked out my top 40 reasons for your family to see the Walt Disney World Hoop Dee Doo Revue!

1. The Atmosphere
Located on the ground of the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds, inside the beautiful log cabin feel of Pioneer Hall, the Hoop Dee Doo brings an atmosphere that is appealing to all audiences.
2. The Good Ole Cast
It wouldn’t be the Hoop Dee Doo without the faces of Claire de Lune, Johnny Ringo, Dolly Drew, Six Bits Slocum, Flora Long and Jim Handy! This rowdy bunch of characters are here to keep you entertained in between chowing down!
3. Draws People from Around the World
With 40 years under the belt, Hoop Dee Doo buzz has certainly spread! Just at our dinner alone, we had folks from Ireland and Canada visiting.
4. Disney Magic
Disney Magic is definitely sprinkled on this show. You know it wouldn’t be as good without the Disney stamp of approval!
5. Play a Washboard
Yes, you can get to play a washboard as a part of the fun!
6. The Audience Participation
You never know when you might be center stage at the Hoop Dee Doo! Bring your winning smile and those acting skills! You just might be chosen to be a star in the show.
7. All You Can Eat Fried Chicken
Speaking of chowing down, Disney certainly knows how to talk to your stomach. All You Can Eat Fried Chicken! Just like momma used to make 🙂 Serve piled high in ole silver buckets, you’ll have plenty of
8. Live Music
Dueling banjo, tickling ivories, drum, guitar…and the washboard of course, are ready for your listening pleasure. Very talented musicians are in the house!
9. Clapping, Knee Slapping, Foot Stomping, Choo-chooing good time
Get your body ready to join in the slapstick fun!
10.The Napkin Swinging
The whole room swinging their napkins over their heads? Yee-Haw!
11. All You Can Drink
The Beso Del Sol Sangria (did they have that in the ole West?) is definitely recommended. All you can drink beer and wine also included
12. The Hidden Disney References
Keep an ear out for a few one liners from one of your fave Disney movies. You never know which one will be inserted!
13. The Horse Carriage Rides
Right outside the Hoop Dee Doo Pioneer Hall, you can get on a fun horse carriage ride around Fort Wilderness!
14. The Dancing
Wonderful choreography dancing is in store too!
15. The Singing
Sing along with old cowboy favorites. Don’t worry, no one is listening!
16. The Wait Staff
Gruff and no-nonsense, the wait staff is in character too! My husband jumped out of his skin when a bucket of chicken was dumped right on his plate.
17. All You Can Drink…the non alcohol version
Alcohol not your boat? Well, no worries, there’s plenty of Coca-Cola products, juice, milk , tea and coffee to keep your thirst quenched…and all you can drink too.
18. The Cornbread with Honey Butter
Can I get an Amen? No ole fashioned BBQ is complete without the sweet cornbread! Served with a stick of butter, you’re welcome
19. The Corny Humor & Improv on the Fly
These great actors know how to think on their feet with their quick wit! Be prepared for a little improv on the fly as they ask guests questions during the show!
20. All You Can Eat Smoked Ribs
Also piled high in a big bucket, fall off the bone ribs are waiting for your eating pleasure. Goes great with the fried chicken 🙂
21. Disney Buses to Roll You Home
All you can drink and eat can have a toll on your other senses. The Disney buses are parked right outside Pioneer Hall to take you safely back to your hotel.
22. The Tri Circle D Ranch
Tucked into the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds, is the Tri Circle D Ranch with beautiful horses, carriages and a little historical museum. You’ll see some familiar faces from parades, special events and more. I totally recommend seeing the Headless Horseman’s horse!
23. Kodak Moments
Plenty of great ops to take pictures of the cast, the ambiance, the food and maybe a hilarious family member! Bring those cameras
24. The Campgrounds
Before and after the show is the perfect time to take a stroll at the Fort Wilderness campgrounds. Come around the holidays for an even more festive feel!
25. The Strawberry Shortcake Tribute
Dessert is so good, the show has to give it’s own song and dance tribute to the deliciousness! It’s also a perfect time to say thanks to your wait staff! (You’ll see)
26. The Strawberry Shortcake…itself
Um, yes! After engorging yourself on all you can eat, there’s always a teeny bit of room for this big dessert! Share (or don’t), this fluffy cake is swimming with strawberries and sweet syrup!
27. Celebrate In Style
Anniversary? 21st birthday…again? Well, the Hoop Dee Doo may call on you to celebrate! And who wouldn’t want a memorable occasion at a memorable place like Hoop Dee Doo? You certainly won’t forget it!
28. Babies Are Welcome
I think folks always get worried about dinner shows and babies. This is one place that babies are welcome. The entertainment comes in short bursts to keep your little ones interested. Clapping, laughing, dancing, and plenty of eating, no worries about the noise! And hey, under age 3 is free eating 🙂
29. Accommodations for special dietary needs

30. Non-smoking
Yay for families! This is a NO smoking environment, so you can save those lungs for singing and hooting!

The Hoop Dee Doo is timeless. I think this show has lasted so long because of the reach. You can reach the young and the old and still all have a great time.
32. 3 Seating Options
Sit on the main floor, or grab a seat in one of the balconies, you have a great seat anywhere in Pioneer Hall.
33. The Attire
Casual, come as you are. Comfortable in your own skin is the attire here.
34. Finger Lickin’
Warning! There’s no wet naps to be found at the Hoop Dee Doo. Finger Lickin’ is encouraged!
35. Playground for the kids while you wait
This is such a sanity saver for parents! While you wait, your kids can play at the playground right outside Pioneer Hall. Get out the ants in your pants before dinner 🙂
36. Clean Family Fun
No foul language here. While corny, funny and definitely full of antics, Hoop Dee Doo is safe for all ears! Definitely a family friendly show!
37. 3 Show Times Per Night
4 pm, 6:15, and 8:30 are your show times, great for early eaters (and kids) and the late night chow-ers. I highly recommend making reservations, especially if you have a large party. Which brings me to…
38. Great for large parties
Hoop Dee Doo is the perfect place to seat large parties! We had a table for 12 are we very comfortable, with a great view of the stage.
39. The rich history
Over 35,000 shoes and over 10 million viewers and counting, it’s no wonder that the Hoop Dee Doo is one of the most popular shows at Walt Disney World! 40 years of fun, don’t you want to be a part of that history?
40. Memories for a lifetime
It’s no doubt that the Walt Disney World Hoop Dee Doo definitely hits a sweet spot of home. Classic, rustic and full of smiles, I know I have wonderful Disney memories that I can cherish for another 40 years.
