Universal Orlando Resort Mardi Gras Best Tips
It’s been ages. I think the last time I attended Universal’s Mardi Gras was definitely prior to baby #2. I certainly would not have thought twice about bringing my son. Mardi Gras, a family thing? You would have never convinced me of that one.
But after a family-filled and FUN weekend at Universal Orlando Resort’s one and only Mardi Gras, I have quite a few reasons why your family will love this time of year! Grab your Universal Orlando Resort Mardi Gras Best Tips.
The Taste of New Orleans Cuisine
The best way to get in the Mardi Gras spirit in my opinion is through the stomach! Sink your teeth in some amazing Cajun inspired food from Gumbo to Jambalaya to Andouille Sausage. And let’s not forget the amazing Beignets and King’s Cake! The kids loved getting their faces covered in powdered sugar!
The Sights & Sounds of the French Quarter Courtyard
Take in one of the 12 authentic New Orleans bands. Stroll the various food vendors. Get your fortune told or maybe a henna tattoo? There’s lots of sights and sounds to take in at the Mardi Gras French Quarter Courtyard.
Pose with Your Favorite Mardi Gras Characters
Bedazzled in amazing costumes, accessories and stilts, it’s a great opportunity to grab some really amazing memories of the family posing with your favorite Mardi Gras folks. With the authentic music in the background too, you definitely “feel” like you’re in the heart of New Orleans.
The Spectacular Mardi Gras Parade
The sun sets. The music, lights and smoke fill your senses as the unbelievable Universal Mardi Gras Parade fills the streets. Each of the 12 floats are built to create whimsy, inspiration and wonder. 100s of pounds of glitter, countless hours of design, over a year of prep, this parade is definitely worth your family’s visit. There’s new floats popping out every year (such as the new Land, Sea and Air floats inspired by the book Around the World in 80 Days), so be sure to “catch” the action!
The only place in Orlando where you can catch Mardi Gras beads by the HANDFUL! Did you know each parade throws out an excess of 166,00 beads PER NIGHT? Be on the lookout for the special colored beads. They’re thrown out of specific floats. Did you collect them all? The kids really enjoyed trying to get every color! Grab your kids and place them in the middle of the biggest and best Mardi Gras parade in Florida!
The parade was amazing and even better than when I had last experienced. I couldn’t believe all of the color, the action, the dancing, the FUN! My son couldn’t stop talking about the parade for days.
The All-Star Line Up Concerts
Foreigner. Daughtry. Lynyrd Skynyrd. Weezer. End your family day at Universal Mardi Gras with an amazing view of your favorite bands live. There’s 20 great acts to take in from a wide collection of genres.
So round up the family and head over to Universal’s Mardi Gras from now through June 7th! From the taste of New Orleans to the sounds of the French Quarter Courtyard to an unforgettable parade, your family will love the extra Mardi Gras flair included in your Universal Orlando Resort admission! Just the cost of the concert ticket ALONE is worth this price. The best way to experience all the Mardi Gras has to offer is with a Universal Annual Pass 🙂
