Elmo Toddler Playdate Tips & Snack Idea
It’s amazing to see characters that I grew up with still bring as much excitement to my kids today. One of our favorites, Elmo. This guy has spanned a few generations of smiles in this household. Any other moms have fond memories of Sesame Street while growing up? So of course, Elmo had to be the star of my latest Elmo Toddler Playdate!
Here are my top Elmo Toddler Playdate Tips for a fun and engaging day of play, including a sweet Elmo Snack Idea!
Clean House
This is a great time for mom to catch up on necessary cleaning (ahem me!) and make sure that your toddler proofing equipment is in well working order (such as those plug covers and cabinet locks).
Invite Your Pals
Don’t fret about this one! Just a friendly text or email to invite a few friends is perfect for a playdate. This keeps the play atmosphere casual and laid back.
Have a Fun Elmo Snack Idea
No Elmo playdate is complete without a fun snack idea! Keep things simple and fun with these easy and delicious Elmo Fruit Cups inspired by my last Elmo Party! Perfect for friends that may have allergies or sensitivities, this gluten free and vitamin rich snack will give your kids the energy they need to engage in the fun. Here’s how to make your fruit cups:
Ingredients:
- Strawberries, sliced into bite sized pieces
- Cantaloupe, scooped into a small semi-circle
- Blueberries, a good handful
- Greek Yogurt, a couple of dollops
Directions:
- Place your strawberries into the bottom of a small circular snack cup. This will be the base of Elmo’s smiling face.
- Use the cantaloupe as Elmo’s nose and place in the center of the strawberries.
- Place two small dollops of Greek yogurt as Elmo’s eyes at the top of Elmo’s head. Dot the eyes with two blueberries.
- Use the remaining blueberries as the smile along the bottom of Elmo’s face.
- Enjoy a sweet Elmo treat!
Have a Few Engaging Elmo Toys – like the new Play All Day Elmo
If your kids love Elmo, then this new toy is sure to get your kids engaged with their new friend! The new Playskool Sesame Street Play All Day Elmo keeps your kids laughing and learning from ages 18 months to 4 years. Using amazing technology and a friendly face, your new Elmo sings, talks, plays and moves with your child as they grow and learn together.
And it all begins with a squeeze of Elmo’s nose.
Toddler mode is perfect for your little one learning about the world around them. The simple play and cause/effect technology make is easy for kids to interact with their loving pal! From tickling Elmo’s tummy to clapping hands to kissing his face, toddlers love how Elmo speaks to them (with a fully movable mouth).
Giggles ensue whenever my girl holds Elmo upside down (he says “Elmo Is Upside Down!)
or bounces with him (he makes spring noises with every jump!).
Don’t think that the Elmo fun ends there. Play All Day Elmo grows with your child in advanced Preschool Mode too! Just flip the switch and enhance play time with MORE Elmo activities! Your child can play with Elmo in a whole new way including favorite preschool games such as:
- Red Light Green Light
- Pat-a-Cake

- as well as the Toddler mode responses!
Pat-a-Cake is my daughter’s favorite thing to do right now! She loves any opportunity to sing and clap. With Elmo, she can play Pat-a-Cake to her little heart’s content all while interacting with her favorite Sesame Street character!
And when play is done, Play All Day Elmo is perfect for snuggling. Just switch Elmo to “Nap” mode for a soft and soothing lullaby. Isn’t the new Play All Day Elmo amazing? I know! Technology at it’s finest for playtime fun, this new toy from Playskool Toys is perfect for many years of happy memories!
Be Flexible
This is definitely the most important tip I could give. As much as we moms love to have a schedule and a plan, the best part about a playdate is allowing your toddler to be in charge. Help avoid the toddler meltdowns by allowing them as much freedom and independence to discover, play, learn and grow with their friends.
Ready to make your next Elmo playdate a success? Be sure to bring the friends, the snacks, a tidy home, a flexible schedule and of course the new Play All Day Elmo for lots of toddler learning! I can’t wait to hear how Elmo brought the fun at your next get together. Looking for more toddler tips? Check out How to Prevent Toddler Boredom While Traveling.

Your daughter is so adorable with her Elmo! Last year, my younger brother ordered an Elmo costume and snuck out, put it on, rang the bell on Halloween and walked right into the house. His daughter was so excited and his wife was a little creeped out until she figure out it was him. LOL
I’ll have to pass along this snack to him!
