Gluten Free Slow Cooker Baked Apples Recipe

A cold front has finally hit Florida, so I’m on the hunt for warm and delicious recipes to keep this warm weather girl happy. And where does my mind immediately go? Apples. Baked apples have to be one of the most underrated desserts ever. I’m not sure why I don’t makes these like every week. Seriously….who needs pie when you have slow cooked perfection? So today, I’m sharing my secrets to Slow Cooked Baked Apple success, gluten-free! An easy dessert idea for winter guest entertaining with that WOW factor…all without the hard work! You’re only steps away from your new favorite dessert this season. Here’s how to make it:

Simple ingredients. Natural sweetness. WOW presentation. An amazing house smell. Cutting out the gluten, this recipe has a great no-guilt factor too. And the prep is so easy, I amaze myself. I wish I could eat like 10 of these apples. Ok, maybe I have.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/4 Cup of Raisins
  • 1/4 Cup of Oats
  • 1/4 Cup of Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 TSP Cinnamon
  • 1/8 TSP Nutmeg
  • 4 Large Apples
  • Butter
  • Cooking Spray

Instructions
 

  • Spray slow cooker with cooking spray.
  • In small bowl, combine raisins, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg.
  • Hollow out the cores of 4 apples (leaving the bottoms). Slice off 1/4 inch off the top of the apple so the skin is removed from the top. Place in slow cooker, hollowed out areas exposed.
  • Fill apples with the oats mixture, pressing in if desired.
  • Top each apple with a small pat of butter.
  • Cook on low for 3-4 hours or until apple is cooked through.
  • Serve warm.

How to make baked apples in slow cooker

Those pats of butter are important, so don’t leave those out! Want to add another layer of winter delicious? Substitute fresh cranberries for raisins. You’re welcome 🙂
