8 Things You Can Not Make In Your Crock Pot
I say it every single time. Whoever invented the crock pot is an absolute genius. A magical cure for every busy mom wanting to desperately make a home cooked meal for her family, I cannot tell you how many times this baby has come to my rescue. I would kiss mine right now if I could. (no, really I would). But did you know there’s also things you can not make in your crock pot? A bit tongue and cheek and also true, here’s my ode to Monday with 8 Things You Can NOT Make In Your Crock Pot. 🙂
Man this would be super awesome. But even successful…you’d have a crazy soggy mess. High fast heat is required for this feat….and well, our slow cooker remains faithful at LOW and SLOW.
No crispy crunchy skin here. You can steam a potato with mushy cooked center (GROSS)…but getting that delicious baked taste in your mouth requires…well, an oven.
Sorry folks, but the key to delicious meat is to cook it with the fat. Tender, juicy and flavorful, it’s a much needed component to crock pot success. And if there’s no fat on that meat (like chicken), you will most likely be drowning it’s sorrows in a creamy sauce or adding fat to keep it moist and delicious. So unless you love dry turkey….
Yes, there are plenty of recipes out there, but some things are meant to be enjoyed the good ole’ fashioned way. Soggy mushy pasta…or 3 minutes on the stove? Um….
A Perfect Man.
We wish the crock pot would solve more than our cooking problems, right ladies? 🙂
A Clean House.
Though I’d love to say my crock pot gives me all of this extra time on my hands, in reality, I’m usually throwing my slow cooker on for those days when I’m out of the house. Wouldn’t it be fantastic if the Crock Pot had a clean house button?
Let me know if you need an explanation.
Well Behaved Children.
Not only are you slowly torturing your children with fantastic smells of dinner all day long, but the ever so long wait turns the kids behavior buttons to off. Have they invented the Crock Pot Smell Cover yet?
Though the Crock Pot can make everything from soap (oh yes, it can) to butter, bread to dessert don’t forget to love on your other things in life too…like your stove…and your kids. Thank you Crock Pot for your years of faithful low and slow service. Now to find that laundry button….
What else can you NOT make in your crock pot? Or have a good crock pot fail?
