Stress free holiday party tips

Prep Ahead of Time

It’s actually surprising how much prep work can get done before a holiday party. Most of the baking, cooking and food prep can occur up to days beforehand, cutting down on the stress on the day of the party! Consider planning out your week with little jobs each day. Some foods (like my delicious Crockpot Meatballs) taste even better the next day!

Cut Back on Cleaning

Cutting back on cleaning…I know. It’s like a foreign concept to me, especially when I pride on having a clean home before a big party. It can be so tempting to do a big clean of the house before holiday guests arrive. Take it from a holiday party pro, don’t go into cleaning overdrive before the party starts. A holiday party means lots of drinks, eats and people in and out of your house. Spills and messes are inevitable! Instead, take the time to focus on key areas (like bathrooms and kitchen) beforehand and save party areas (like floors) for a deep down clean after the fun is over.

Accept Help

There’s always folks asking what to bring to the party. Those last minute items can be big stresses when you’re counting down the minutes to party time! Accept those last minute pick-ups like ice, cold drinks, etc. to take some of the burden off you. And don’t forget to take people up on the offer to bring some of their homemade goodies too! Maybe grandma’s dessert or your friend’s world famous appetizer would bring some delicious diversity to your menu.

Great tips! I definitely need to learn to accept help. It always feels like a failure when I ask someone else to step in, but the holidays are about enjoying friends and family not exhausting myself.

I used to always stress about cleaning my house before company came, but I’ve started to put more effort into making my home warm and inviting and less time stressing about cleaning! You’re right about focusing on the kitchen and bath. Also, if you have enough gorgeous and delicious food, most people won’t notice that everything wasn’t deep cleaned! 🙂

What a great treat! I love the inclusion of jam to make them little sandwiches. Plus, it’s a serving a fruit if you have a handful, so I can justify eating a ton of them.
