Emotional Holiday Crest Ad Gives Grandma Wish of a Lifetime

Warning: this post may have you instantly reaching for the tissue box.

I’m the girl that cries over military homecoming videos, happily ever afters, and those darn Publix Thanksgiving ads. Maybe it’s the intoxicating fumes of pine needles mixed with freshly baked cookies. Maybe it’s the sounds of Christmas carols on repeat 24/7. But there’s something about those Christmas commercials that takes my emotional levels to DEFCON 2.

To celebrate the season of giving, Crest granted a wish of a lifetime, casting 86-year old mother and grandmother Bertha Nunn in its latest TV commercial ‘Santa’s Flashback,’ where she has a little fun with Santa himself. Watch this woman pull on your heartstrings this Christmas in this sweet 20-second national TV commercial. And find out how you can spread more #CrestSmiles this holiday season.

Behind 86-Year Old’s TV Commercial Debut

“I never wanted to be in the movies per se, I just wanted to do TV commercials.”

86-year old Bertha Nunn always dreamed of starring in a TV commercial. But between being a mom, raising a family and now enjoying that grandmother life, she never thought that her dream would actually come true. In the spirit of holiday wishes, Crest is hitting the instant waterworks button with their latest holiday spot, reminding us all that dreams can still come true.

Crest partnered with the nonprofit organization Wish of a Lifetime, to grant Bertha’s wish and celebrate the inherent wisdom and special value of our older generations. Traveling from Maryland to Canada, pampered with her own trailer, makeup, and even a robe, Bertha was treated just like a movie star. And then, she got to watch her dream unfold.

“This is my dream and whatever comes out of it, I just wanna have fun.”

As the official toothpaste of Santa Claus, Crest is giving people a lot to smile about this holiday season. Who knew that a 20-second TV commercial would end up pulling on the nation’s heartstrings this Christmas season? Call it an early Christmas present, Bertha Nunn is the grandmother we ALL want in our life in this beautiful exchange with the jolly guy. And in less than 20-seconds, she had me reaching for those tissues. Watch this emotional holiday Crest ad starring Bertha Nunn.

It’s Never Too Late to Dream Big

At 86-years old, Bertha reminds us that it’s never too late to dream big. For me, this amazing lady truly fuels my soul this Christmas season with a new desire to pursue my passion for my job, my family, my life. She inspires me to be a better mom to my kids – and to teach them to always dream big too. In short, Bertha gives me hope.

Share a smile this holiday season by sharing Bertha’s story. Give someone the gift of hope, a visible reminder to never give up on your dreams. Because Bertha didn’t. And now, she’s a household name.

Wow! And let’s not overlook the incomparable acting of Canada’s Santa, Paul Dick. Truly a gem.
