Best Disney Character Couture Tips for Your Adult Biddidi Bobbidi Boutique Makeover
I’ve got three words for you: Adult Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.
After watching my princess get not one, but two Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique makeovers by age 5, I admit there was a twinge of jealousy. I never got a Disney princess makeover when I was little, aka B.B. (before Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique). I’m sure there are plenty of moms wishing they had their chance to be pampered in the ultimate Disney way.
But unlike some fairy tales, this story ends with a Happily Ever After. The Dream Big Princess event ended with the best swag ever – a gift certificate to try the newest trend in the Disneybound craze, a Disney Character Couture Makeover. Grabbing my friend Jen from The Suburban Mom, we rushed to get the Timeless Transformation our adult lives have been dreaming of – and my ultimate Mulan Disneybounding memory.

Who Should Get a Disney Character Couture Makeover?
So who would really appreciate a Disney Character Couture makeover? Let me count the ways:
- Adults – duh! We’ve been waiting years for this!
- Tweens and teens – too “cool” for a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique experience
- Kids aged 4-14
Basically anyone who really loves Disney, Disneybounding, dressing up and feeling pretty – these makeovers are for you! It’s the perfect alternative to giving “stuff” (anyone else Tidying Up?) to your Disney lover. And it’s not just limited to girls either. Best tip: One of my favorite Disney Character Couture tips is to grab a friend or family member to do together, or in a group!
What to Bring to Your Disney Character Couture Appointment
There’s no Disney Character Couture look book or cheat sheet. So having a clear picture of what Disney makeover you would like is not only helpful, it’s essential. Here are my best Disney Character Couture tips for what I recommend you have before you walk into your appointment:
- Any photos to help with your vision
- Hairstyle ideas
- Makeup inspiration
- Special Accessories: statement hair pins, jewelry, etc. to complete your look
- Camera
What to Do Before Your Disney Character Couture Makeover
So the day of your makeover, I highly recommend these Disney Character Couture tips:
- Apply any face makeup you need – foundation/powder/concealer/blush/bronzer/etc.
- Come with clean hair and nails
- Wear your Disney Character Couture look to the appointment (think Disneybounding!)
- Take before photos (if desired)
What to Expect During the Disney Character Couture Makeover
First, I met my stylist. Jennifer was wonderful. She is a licensed cosmetologist at the Ship Shape Salon with over 10 years experience. She’s done everything from haircuts to Disney weddings, and really enjoys what she does. Bonus – she also nailed my Mulan Disneybounding look.
Nails
Nails happen first, but I admit that I was LATE to my appointment. (Lesson learned: be sure to have extra time to get into the hotel, walk to the locale and park!) This isn’t a full-on manicure, but a simple polish and either 1 Disney Jamberry wrap per hand or 1 simple nail art design.
Jamberry design availability will vary by location (and again no lookbook). There were plenty of polish colors and I got two coats and a top coat. Thankfully they had Mulan Jamberry styles in stock and we rocked this red polished look. Best tip: Come in with nail inspiration ideas just in case.
Hair
So after nails, you sit in a chair and consult. Bonus, you get extra time for your nails to dry. I knew right away that I wanted to create a classic Mulan Disneybounding look and came in with a few pictures on my phone for hair inspiration and my Mulan purse, ear cuff and flower for my hair. Best tip: Have your inspiration/accessories ready to go before you start the nails process, just so you don’t have to dig through your stuff and mess up your manicure.
For the hairstyle, I knew Mulan’s iconic topknot was not going to look good on me. So collaborating with my stylist, we were able to settle on a 50’s inspired do with a side bun. I’m so glad that I brought in my silk flower for my hair. She was able to incorporate it nicely into the style! Don’t worry about bringing in Bobby pins or hair ties. They will provide, like a normal full service salon. (Fun fact: I had over 90+ Bobby pins for my hairstyle). I even received an extra hair poof to make my bun fuller.
If you want Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Pixie Dust, they have that as well. I opted for no, because sparkles…everywhere. For an extra cost, the salons may have hair accessories like tiaras and Mickey ears in stock. Be sure to ask! Best tip: Collaborate with the stylist for hair ideas that work best to show off your style and the Disney character – the stylists actually take classes on Character Couture looks, and have done a ton of great makeovers. My stylist just did a really cool Scar makeover, complete with lion mane hair and white makeup scar over the eye!
Makeup
Next was eye makeup, which included shadow, liner, and mascara. You can opt for face makeup application for an extra $25 – but I opted to come with my foundation, concealer and powder on. We went with simple and clean, but added some iridescent shimmer to my eyelids (that went from green to purple like Mulan’s transformation in the movie – aka my stylist won some really cool brownie points). False lashes application are included with our Timeless Transformation package – and I had a single layer of lashes applied, nothing too bold or fancy. Light up lashes are available for an extra $15.
Lips were last which included applied lip color to finish your Disney Character Couture makeover. My stylist actually blended a couple of reds together for this lip look. I loved it!

What Disney Character Couture Makeover Locations Are The Best
There are 4 spa locations to get your Disney Character Couture Makeover throughout Walt Disney World Resorts. - Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort – Ivy Trellis Salon
- Disney’s Yacht Club Resort – Ship Shape Salon
- Disney’s Wilderness Lodge – Salon by the Springs
- Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort – La Vida Salon
How to Book Your Disney Character Couture Makeover
You can’t book a Disney Character Couture appointment online. You have to call in for one. Call 407-WDW-SPAS to book up to 180 days in advance. Best tip: One thing I regret? Booking our appointments late in the day. With a late day 3 pm appointment, that barely gave us any time to get pictures taken with decent daylight. If I could have a do over, I definitely recommend booking your makeover in advance (at least 2 weeks ahead), and choosing a time EARLY in the day – to maximize your time for pictures and enjoying your makeover results.
What Disney Character Couture Savings to Take Advantage of
Ask for any Disney Character Couture discounts at time of booking, since these are subject to change (and cannot be combined with other offers). Here are the ones that I know of:
- Annual Passholder – 15% off
- Disney Vacation Club Member – 15% off
- Disney Visa Cardholders – 15% off
- Florida Resident – 10% off
Best tip: Keep in mind that tip to your stylist is NOT included. If your stylist did an amazing job (like mine!), I highly recommend thanking them.
Is a Disney Character Couture Makeover Worth the Price?
My Disney Character Couture Makeover was just what this Disney lover dreamed of. A perfect Disney experience, all of the photos, and a memories with my friend, I would do this all over again – in a heartbeat. One of my best Disney Character Couture tips? Memories over things. After talking to many folks who asked about the price, I was happy to hear how the $120 Timeless Transformation seemed reasonable for the experience.
I hope these Disney Character Couture tips help you and your family plan for your Happily Ever After makeover. It was a Disney moment this girl won’t soon forget. Adult Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique taken to the next level, I can’t wait to plan my next makeover. Who should I Disneybound as next?
