5 Beach Essentials for Kids | Step2 Igloo Wagon Review

We did it. The first official beach day of 2015 is in the books! And with lots of families taking advantage of the warmer weather this Spring, I’m sure that you’re wondering what essentials you need for those little ones before you dip your toes in the sand. I have my 5 Beach Day Essentials for Kids that you should consider before take those little ones out into the sand this season. You won’t believe what makes our beach days even that much more FUN this year!

Kids best sunscreen

1. Sunscreen, All Sorts

We take sunscreen very seriously here in Florida. Not only do I power my kids up with at least SPF 30, I make sure to have a variety of sunscreens on hand at all times. So what sunscreens so we have to have for a kid essential each day? I have 3 favorites. Waterproof and sweatproof lotion for extended water play, spray for quick reapplication (so the kids don’t miss ANY of the fun), and stick for those sensitive areas, especially around the eyes!

Hydration kids beach

2. Hydration

All of that play can work up quite a thirst! Hydration is key when playing at the beach. Kids can easily become dehydrated with those small bodies under the sun. Keep lots of cold drinks on hand for sipping, the better sand protection the better!

Kids beach food

3. Kid-Friendly Eats

Be sure to have plenty of your kids’ favorite beach munchies on hand for quick nibbles in between sand castle builds! I love having icy cold fruit on hand for extra hydration. Now is a great time to pack some veggies too!! With hungry little sand monsters, I can definitely sneak more veggies into their diets!

4. New Step2 Igloo Wagon

What is my favorite new beach must have for kids? The brand new Step2 Igloo Wagon! That’s right, there’s a HUGE and nifty Igloo cooler tucked right inside your child’s wagon for ultimate usefulness! Ready for your family’s next adventure big or small, this wagon was the perfect addition to our family beach days! Check out all of my favorite features!

  • Brightly colored wagon, made of sturdy Step2 plastic that your family trusts for all of your kids’ wagon adventures.
  • 39.5 x 42.5 x 20.25 inches, large and roomy for holding kids or holding stuff!

Step2 igloo wagon

  • A LARGE, soft removable Igloo cooler that nestles right inside the wagon. Perfect for keeping all of your children’s food and drink nice and cold all day! The cooler bag featured zip closure with an Velcro top flap. I love the grip handles for easy transport.
  • Large removable wagon canopy, perfect for extra shade for those kids after a long day playing in the sand and water!

Step2 kids wagon cooler

  • Extra large 10 inch diameter wheels for a smooth and quiet ride, even through sand! We had no problems pulling through the soft Florida sand!
  • Cup holders for mom and dad – or to collect seashells 🙂
  • Easy to fold under wagon handle, for storage and transport

Best cooler wagon kids

  • Removable multi-functional plastic insert: Great for storage on top of the wagon or for serving food when those little ones get hungry, this piece is a great asset to have at the beach to keep the sand away from our lunch!

Kids beach needs

5. Sand. Enough Said.

The beach is nature’s playground, and we definitely take advantage of it! From digging to climbing to building and destroying, there’s so much to play with and discover while enjoying your family beach day. Allow your kids opportunities to play, learn and discover all while creating priceless memories! Because you just can’t get enough of priceless photos like these 🙂

We have a wagon similar to this. Now that kiddo is too big for it, we use it to haul our stuff around when we go to the park or zoo.

The beach really does make the kids hungry. It is a great place to get them to eat healthy because they’ll chow on whatever’s there. 🙂 I like the wagon!

Was this one easy to pull in the sand? We have a larger Step2 Wagon, and kept getting stuck! I think we just need a smaller version. Great tips for the perfect beach trip!
