Finding Dory Craft Paper Plate Puppets
When you have a blue plate and yellow plate in your hand and all you can think is DORY. I have to make Dory.
You had to be there when I discovered these colored plate treasures at the bottom of my daughter’s craft stash. I was instantly giddy and contemplating our next crafting adventure: a Finding Dory Craft….and bonus, I didn’t have to paint them.
Already clean and happy, this Finding Dory craft will have your kids playing with Nemo & Dory for lots of fun imaginative play. And you already have the goodies to make them. Just Keep Swimming with me as we make these super adorable Finding Dory Craft Paper Plate Puppets, because I my daughter needs them.

DIY Dory Paper Plate Craft Puppet
We’ll start with Dory, since she’s the easiest one to make and perfect for the beginner crafter (aka my 3 year old). Using a blue paper plate as the base, cut out a small mouth in one end of the plate. Above the mouth, glue on your googly eye.
Now cut out a small triangle for the front fin and a longer triangle for the back fin. Glue them on. Don’t forget to add your craft stick to the back so your child can hold up her Dory! My toddler loved making this craft, so easy for her with lots of swimmingly fun play afterwards.
DIY Nemo Paper Plate Craft Puppet
But my 7-year old son needed more of a challenge. So, enter in Nemo into the crafting mix.
Using an orange paper plate as the base, we cut out a small mouth just like Dory. Glue on your googly eye. Ok, you’re still with me. The fins are a bit more complicated, as Nemo has 2 extra fins on top. So we cut out two fin bumps as best we could out of a second orange paper plate. Glue those on the top of Nemo’s head. Then, we cut out Nemo’s “lucky” fin (with the little cut out notch for character) and glued that on. Then we cut and glued on a longer triangle back fin.
Pretty easy. We were feeling accomplished.
Now comes in the felt. While super cool to glue, I HATE cutting this stuff. Using another small paper plate as a guide, we cut out two long crescent “C” shapes out of the felt. Don’t worry about the excess. We’ll deal with that later. Glue those onto the plate and cut off the excess. Now shape the felt to fit the tips of the two top fins and one back fin. Now the pipe cleaners to finish the clown fish look. Bend and glue as shown to complete your Nemo. Cut off excess. Don’t forget to glue on your craft stick to complete your puppet.
Now it’s time to PLAY! Let your kids enjoy swimming off to adventures with Dory and Nemo. And seriously, how cute are they?
