Summer and tropical just go together, don’t ya think? I’m dreaming of summer today and this homemade tropical trail mix recipe, featuring one of our family’s favorite cereals, Honeycomb! Do you have fond Honeycomb cereal memories too? Well, guess what? It’s Honeycomb’s 50th birthday! So to celebrate summer, a huge birthday milestone and hungry bellies everywhere, I’m making some summer fun with this Honeycomb Tropical Trail Mix Recipe! Check out how to make this tasty summer treat, perfect for summer snacking!

Post cereals definitely know how to bring the sweet into your breakfast routine! But Honeycomb cereal offers so much more than just a great breakfast. Packed with whole grain corn and oats, vitamins A & D and sweetened with real honey, it’s not wonder this cereal has been around for 50 years! I certainly am feeling old knowing that 🙂

Perfect for parties, beach days and picnics, this trail mix pumps up the Honeycomb goodness with real fruit and nuts for added sweetness, goodness and fun! Here’s how to make it:

Servings 6 .5 cups

Ingredients
  

  • 4 Cups of Honeycomb Cereal
  • 2 oz. of White Chocolate
  • Juice from 1/2 of a Fresh Orange
  • 1/2 Cup Shaved Coconut sweetened or unsweetened
  • 1/2 Cup of Dried Cranberries
  • 1/2 Cup of Dried Mango chopped
  • 1/2 Cup of Raw Almonds
  • 1/2 Cup of Banana Chips

Instructions
 

  • Using a double boiler, melt the white chocolate over low heat. Squeeze the juice from the orange into the white chocolate, stirring until smooth.
  • Place Honeycomb Cereal in gallon sized plastic bag. Add white chocolate mixture. Shake until cereal is fully coated.
  • In large bowl mix cereal, dried fruit and shaved coconut together.
  • Serve immediately or store in airtight container.

    Aww, I loved Honeycomb cereal as a kid! I don’t think my son has ever tried it, actually, but this snack mix would be a fun debut!

    When I was a lot younger, I used to eat Honeycomb right out of the box & I would again. It is mighty tasty! So I know this Tropical Trail Mix with Honeycomb as an ingredient, would be awesome!! I already pinned this recipe! I can’t believe that after next month, I’ll only be 9 years older than this cereal!! Where did the time go?? 🙂
