Spicy Pepperoni Sauce, Perfect for Game Day Dipping
You know that you’re a parent when…
I admit, I’m not a big fan of tailgating. Long gone are the days of college when I didn’t mind standing around a parking lot in toe-pinching heels, eating half-cooked food off a grill that’s never been cleaned. Give me sweatpants, a couch, my 3 favorite people and good food, that’s my idea of “homegating.” And while I may not the biggest football fan in the house (have you heard my son’s piercing touchdown cheers?), I certainly am the biggest fan when it comes to game day food. But let’s face it, we’re also busy moms.
So in between touchdowns I’m loading laundry, taking someone to the potty and cleaning my very neglected house. But busy mom life doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice my favorite part about game day, the food. Time to “kick-up” your game day at home with this quick and spicy pepperoni sauce, perfect for game day dipping! Grab the easy recipe and more easy game day ideas for the busy mom.
Game Day When You’re a Busy Mom
It’s quality, not quantity that makes homegating at home such a big success. But when time is precious, I don’t always have the luxury of making appetizers from scratch.
When I look for high quality game day snacks for my homegating family, I turn to Farm Rich to help me out. Farm Rich helps families make the most of their time together with a wide variety of wholesome and easy-to-prepare frozen foods ready in minutes.
With a variety of delicious options, like these cheesy Farm Rich Mozzarella Bites, I can easily turn a frozen appetizer into a gourmet dish by layering a fresh slice of tomato and basil on top, then sprinkling with fresh grated Parmesan. Pretty, right? But trust me when I say that it tastes even better. Even my husband thought these were homemade.

Quick Spicy Pepperoni Sauce
And no game day is complete without our family favorite appetizer, Farm Rich Mozzarella Sticks. It’s all about the dipping sauce when the crowd arrives. But who has time to make a homemade sauce? Certainly not this busy mom. Jazz up your jar sauce with a few extra ingredients to “kick-up” the spice in this Quick Spicy Pepperoni Sauce, perfect for dipping your Mozzarella Sticks on Game Day.
Ingredients:
- 1 TBSP olive oil
- 30 slices of pepperoni, diced
- 2 TBSP minced garlic
- 2 TBSP sweet onion, diced
- 1/2 – 3/4 tsp of crushed red pepper flakes (depending on your level of spice)
- 1/2 TBSP oregano, crushed
- (1) 14/5 oz. jar of marinara pasta sauce
- 2 TBSP fresh basil, chopped
Directions:
- Heat olive oil in large saute pan over medium heat. Add pepperoni, garlic, and onion. Saute for 5-10 minutes, or until onions are translucent.
- Add crushed red pepper flakes, oregano and jar of marinara. Turn heat up to medium high. Stir frequently until heated through.
- Stir in basil. Remove from heat. Serve warm.
All of that delicious spicy goodness will need a quenching drink to wash it down. That’s why we stock up with classic Dr Pepper for our homegating fans.
