Lemon Berry Sugar Scrub | 5 Tips for a Perfect Shave

Dry skin? EWW! Nicks? OUCH! Razor burn? NO!! Summer is here and that means my legs are exposed 24/7 in Florida. No more hiding behind jeans and leggings. And this busy mom doesn’t have time to slow down our summer schedule to tackle hairy legs.

So how do I keep my legs “Florida approved” all-summer long? Make this homemade Lemon Berry Sugar Scrub + grab your tips for a longer-lasting and perfect shave.

Exfoliate with this DIY Lemon Berry Sugar Scrub

Did you know that sugar scrubs are great for exfoliating your legs before shaving? Yes, indeed-y. By exfoliating prior to shaving, you’re clearing out those dead skin cells and pores so that you can get an even closer shave. What does that mean for you? Shaving LESS. Magic words right there, hey Mom?

With summer here, I’m thinking summer scented sugar scrubs. Lemon is at the top of my summer scent list. Besides this Natural Lemon Rosemary Toilet Cleaner, lemon can make an extremely lovely sugar scrub for summer too. With only a few ingredients, you too can have a summer scented sugar scrub, perfect for exfoliating!

What You Will Need:

  • 3 TBSP Coconut Oil
  • 2/3 Cup of Granulated Sugar
  • 1 TBSP Lemon Zest
  • 1 TBSP Puree of your favorite berries – I used strawberries

How to us sugar scrub for shaving

Directions:

Mix all ingredients together in a small bowl. Pour into tightly sealed jar (like a mason jar). When ready for shaving, grab a few tablespoons of sugar scrub to exfoliate your legs. Rub into your skin. Rinse off. May be stored in refrigerator up to 2 weeks.

Lather with a Moisturizing Shaving Cream

Now that your legs are exfoliated, time to lather up the good stuff. A moisturizing shaving cream can mean the difference in a closer shave, without the harsh dryness. Avoid a dry shave at all costs!

Use a High Quality Razor

It’s time for the closest shave possible! And for my high quality razors, I trust Gillette Venus Razors. These little razors are the perfect tool for busy moms on a tight budget. The Venus & Olay Razor is perfect for the multi-tasking mom. The 5 blades and built-in shave gel bar enable me to quickly get the job done while keeping the nicks, cuts, and dryness to an absolute minimum.

Best shaving tips

Now if this razor could also keep my kids from requesting snacks, drinks, and fight referee-ing from the shower…

Pat Dry

You just scraped your skin and hairs with a sharp blade. The last thing you want to do is scrape your towel against your legs too. OUCH. Go ahead and pat dry your freshly shaven legs for best results.

Moisturize

Time to love on your skin! Grab your favorite moisturizing lotion to finish the task.

Soooo, I read the ingredients twice and it looks like I can eat it too. LOL. I just sounds delicious. I’m glad it’s edible, you know just in case I get locked in the bathroom (Friends episode reference with the wax). Love the idea of this scrub!
