5 Gifts for My Toddler This Christmas #StartingIsBelieving
My daughter is 23 months this Christmas. And I’m so excited for her. This is going to be the first Christmas where I can read the excitement on her face, where the memories start to sink in, where the innocent looks and the awe in her eyes as she stares up into the Christmas tree will be ingrained in my brain forever.
It’s such a wonderful time of year, so making sure that I have gifts that are going to live up to this Christmas moment of a lifetime have been weighing on me. But at last, I think I have the perfect 5 items for my toddler this Christmas. Want to know what’s she’s getting (just shhhh, don’t tell her!)?
1. Her First Nostalgic Doll
It may be super cheesy, but I HAD to get my daughter a Cabbage Patch Doll for Christmas this year. When I was her age, I had a Cabbage Patch Doll that I carried around with me. In fact, I still have her tucked away in the attic. The kid in me wants to see my daughter growing up with a friend too. So a pretty Cabbage Patch Doll in a Christmas red dress will be under the tree this year.
2. Food for Her Kitchen Playset
Did I mention lately how much my little girl loves her kitchen playset? She’s always in there cooking up something delicious and fun! But while she has all of the equipment to make a great meal, we actually haven’t gotten her any food yet. So to stock her fridge and her pantry, we have this HUGE 50+ food set to add to her kitchen. I may be cursing this set later when I’m stepping on cans and boxes of cereal in the middle of the night, but Santa couldn’t resist.
3. A Really Loud Toy
I’m probably going to really really regret this, but I couldn’t resist getting my daughter this moving, talking, roaring Sully from Monster’s Inc. He’s big, he’s blue and he’s full of action. It’s just not Christmas without some type of toy that gives your child the wow factor. I cannot wait to get it all on film! My daughter is going to LOVE him!
4. Clothes
I know, boring. Maybe not mom-of-the-year kind of gifts, but a definite need for my toddler. I have bought quite a few girly, fluffy and pretty clothes for my daughter for the next few years, a definite enjoyed shopping spree when I found out I was having a girl. Watching my girl spin in beautiful dresses and bows in her hair, I’m a sap for my daughter’s charming personality. And I have to take advantage of the when she is actually excited about receiving clothes.
5. Her Future
Did you know, my husband and I almost didn’t have a daughter. When we discussed getting pregnant with a second child, the topic of college education came up a lot in our talks. We both were worried about how we were going to afford a 2nd child’s college education, especially when we were barely affording our son’s. So when our daughter was conceived, we prayed that someday, somehow we would be able to afford college for BOTH of our children. To say that a few years later our prayers would be answered, it brings me to tears thinking about it.
For this 2014 Christmas, we are able to not only gift our daughter with a college education, but we are able to pay it in full. Thanks to the changes in the 2014-2015 Florida Prepaid College Plans, we are able to lock in the lowest prices in years for a FULL 4-year college degree for our children in Florida. You see that price up there? We can pay for a full 4-year college tuition for our daughter in a Florida college for $18,077.16. That’s it. No rising costs or hidden fees. In fact, when we purchase before December 31st, our application fee is waived too. That’s even more savings!
Who knew that by gifting our daughter her college education for Christmas, we were actually gifting more than just her future. We are gifting each other peace of mind. We are gifting our family stability. We are gifting BOTH of our children the future we have dreamed and prayed about. We are gifting our children not only tomorrow, but the opportunity to have so many more tomorrows that are brighter and full of promise.

Every year my mother gifts to both of my kids college funds. She does it at their birthdays, holidays and Christmas – she does like $25 but it sure does add up throughout the year!

These are all great gifts for a toddler. My son had a kitchen set when he was little. He would cook me dinner every night. If he would just cook me dinner now that he is grown.

I think this is a great idea! Doing this, especially when they are too young to complain about the lack of an actual gift, is perfect!

As much as our ears my hate it, toddlers love loud toys. It’s some kind of a rule that they love loud toys the best.

That’s a really smart idea. Young kids don’t have a lot on their wish lists, so why not think ahead?

All wonderful gifts, but especially the college fund. Your child will appreciate that the most one day down the road. I know my kids did.

I think it is a great idea! We give our niece and nephew savings bonds for every birthday and holiday. Hopefully they will have enough for college when they are ready, but who knows with how expensive it is getting!

The pre paid college is great. But, I just love love love that she got a Cabbage Patch Doll. That was my favortie gift ever. I asked for one every year and still have them. About 6 of them are in my basement. I hope to have little girl one day to buy Cabbage Patch dolls for.
