Easy Moana Cupcakes with FREE Printable Toppers

I know, I’m ridiculously behind in posting my daughter’s 6th Moana birthday party. I blame moving, back-to-school and general malaise trying to get back into the swing of working from home without two kids underfoot.

And as always, while my work continues to pile up, I’m procrastinating by reflecting on yet another Disney party (sorry, not sorry) – because I truly think I missed my calling to be a budget party planner.

Moana’s boat is truly a work of art in itself – and a feature of the Moana movie that my daughter absolutely adored. It was either make a life size raft in my living room or find a way to incorporate into adorable party food.

Easy Moana Cupcakes DIY

One of the biggest party budget savers is cupcakes. While you certainly can order some gorgeous cakes and cupcakes for a party, I love how making some homemade cupcakes can really balance a birthday party budget – with a little creativity and some love. These easy Moana cupcakes are a breeze to make (even for the creatively challenged) with just a few supplies, including some FREE Moana printable cupcake toppers!

Ready to make your own?

What You Will Need:

12 cupcakes
Blue frosting
1 bag of mini pretzel sticks
My FREE Moana Cupcake Topper Template (see below)
Scissors
Toothpicks
Tape
These ocean cupcake wrappers

Directions:

Make cupcakes (or buy – I don’t judge!) according to package instructions.
When cool, frost with blue frosting.
Top cupcake with about 5 pretzel sticks, lined parallel to each other in a “raft” shape.
Print and cut out this FREE Moana Cupcake Topper Printable. Attach one topper to a toothpick and tape to secure.
Insert toothpick end into the middle of the pretzel raft.
Wrap cupcakes in these adorable ocean cupcake wrappers for a finishing touch. Display in a fun cupcake stand for a great Moana party centerpiece!

One of my favorite features of the Disney Moana film was her boat. It was a great reflection of Polynesian culture, and I absolutely adored the unique design of the sail. So of course, my daughter’s 6th birthday would not be complete with a reproduction of Moana’s famous boat scene.
