Easy Family Travel with LeapFrog LeapStart

We did it. After a 2 year drought, we packed up the family, boarded a plane and finally had a vacation. Our family vacation was long overdue – and it was the first time ever in my blogging career that I didn’t work for a glorious 7 days. Well, almost. We packed the all-new LeapFrog LeapStart. A long plane ride, a layover, a reverted potty trained toddler, and many hours in a car, I figured it was the perfect time to put the latest LeapFrog toy to the test. Find out how the new LeapFrog LeapStart made for easy family travel on our vacation plus scroll down for a LeapStart GIVEAWAY!

Adios Screen Time

“Screen Time.” Can we all groan together? I know exactly how you feel. The struggle between keeping your kids calm and quiet while providing them engaging entertainment is grossly magnified by two words, screen time. I immediately have a wave of mom guilt when I hand over an electronic device to my kids – if for only a few minutes of sanity. How do we as parents find the balance?

Leapfrfog leapstart

Meet the new LeapFrog LeapStart. Combining the best of engaging electronic technology but without the screen time, this genius LeapFrog product allows your kids to learn, engage and be entertained while traveling.

Interactive

Most like an electronic book device, you place a LeapFrog LeapStart book into the carrier and your kids instantly get transported into a FUN learning environment. Easy on/off switch, volume buttons and attached stylus pen are all you need to get started. The interactive stylus pen allows your child to engage in every section of every page of the book. By touching the pages with the pointer, your book comes to life with interactive games, activities, songs and more. In fact, the LeapStart learning system boasts over 200 skills for your kids to explore and learn!

Skills include (but are not limited to):

  • Reading Comprehension
  • Phonics
  • Problem Solving
  • STEM
  • Shapes
  • Social Skills
  • Math Concepts
  • Shapes
  • Communication

Educational

It wouldn’t be LeapFrog without the educational component. It’s what I love about this company – fun and learning actually do go hand-in-hand. With a wide range of interactive LeapStart Books from preschoolers to 1st grade and a variety of different learning topics from world travel to ABCs and math concepts (even STEM!), LeapFrog makes sure every page of the LeapStart is chock full of educational nuggets, presented in a FUN and engaging way. I couldn’t believe how quickly my kids were soaking in knowledge and practicing much needed skills (even fine motor skills!). Boredom buster? Absolutely! From long car rides to long flight layovers, this learning system was my sanity saver on our vacation. And bonus, no mom guilt!

Portable

The biggest challenge in easy family travel? The STUFF. There’s just so much extra stuff that has to be packed when you travel with kids. Blankies and stuffed lovies, toys and back-up toys, snacks and first aid kits…you get my point. The stuff gets overwhelming. So maximizing my travel luggage is so important. I love how the LeapFrog LeapStart is portable for easy family travel. Easy fold up, durable case and even neat little storage for extra books, the new LeapStart gets an A+ in portability for our travels.

For Multiple Kids

A huge determining factor in purchasing any new educational device for my children is the range. Can both a preschooler and a school age child use it together and still have fun? With the LeapFrog LeapStart, the answer is simple. YES. I couldn’t tell you how many times I glanced in our backseat to discover both kids giggling and learning together. Big brother helping little sister. Little sister cheering on big brother. Recommended for ages 2 – 7, this is the perfect age and learning range for my kids. My 3 year old can practice writing her alphabet and counting numbers while my 7 year old can work on advanced concepts, including writing his own music!

Affordable

The best part of the new LeapFrog LeapStart? Affordability. While the LeapFrog tablets can be expensive for family budgets, the new LeapStart retails with an MSRP for $39.99. This learning system comes with a sampler book too – but additional LeapStart activity books can be purchased separately for about $12.99 each. The device does require two AA batteries – no rechargeable plug for this one. Keep that in mind when traveling and bring extra!

Our family vacation was one for the books. (Books! Get it?) So many memories, so many smiles, and so much learning while on-the-go, the new LeapFrog LeapStart definitely made for easy family travel – and the BEST family moments. Be on the lookout for the new LeapFrog LeapStart online or at your favorite LeapFrog retailer. Be sure to follow LeapFrog via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest for the latest in educational products, tips and more! And be sure to keep those little ones laughing and learning, no matter where your family travels may take you.

I absolutely love that this uses STEM education. I also love that this is a grow with me education toy that expands with the age and learning level of the child. I also love that it is a Lead Frog item as we love their movies.

I like that it helps kids learn skills that they will need for school. I’m glad that all Leapstart activity books are compatible with the devices. It’s hard to find something that my four year old son will enjoy, but also learn from.
