Easy Back-to-School Family Meal Tips with Sandra’s Chicken
I swear it was just July. August has crept up on me, which means we are gearing up for a big Back-to-School year! Busy days, after school sports, and sleeping schedules can be difficult to manage for the already busy mom. One of the hardest transitions for us is the Back-to-School family dinners. Used to a lax summer schedule, dinner can become a rushed crunch time before baths and bedtime. Well this year, we’re emphasizing the importance of family dinners with these 5 Easy Back-to-School Family Meal Tips.
1. Plan out a Meal Schedule
Family meal schedules are super important when school starts. With the added schedules, after school activities and even homework to pull for your valuable time, knowing what’s for dinner ahead of time definitely helps to keep a little order in the chaos. Consider a weekly family meal list, like the one we have on our fridge. I do better with a visual list, which also helps me complete my grocery shopping through the week, plan out meals the day before and save time on “searching” for ingredients.
2. Prep the Family
I think one of the biggest tips in getting the family ready for back-to-school is to involve the family in the schedule planning. Let them know about the weekly meal schedule. Have the kids help create the menu (with hopefully less complaining when dinner comes around), fetch ingredients and even help with shopping. Let them know the expected time schedule for dinner and encourage conversation around the dinner table.
3. Enlist Help
While the mom (or dad) is cooking, be sure to enlist help in a smooth family meal transition. Enlist everyone in helping to set the table. This is a great time for kids to learn (and maybe earn) a little bit about table settings, manners and counting! My son really enjoys getting the table ready for the meal now, something we’ve been encouraging over the summer. So come back-to-school time, this should be a regular routine!
4. Consider quick and delicious meals from Sandra’s Chicken
The LAST thing I want to feed my kids come dinner time is junk, or AKA ‘The I-Give-Up” Meal because I ran out of time. Having a delicious family meal that is quick to make and guilt-free….well, it doesn’t come around too often. But then there’s Sandra’s Chicken. These chicken entrees are exactly the type of meal I want to feed my kids with the energy and ingredients my kids need for their busy back-to-school days.

The chicken is moist and flavorful, the cheese is bubbly and oozing, and you have the perfect cooked temperature for a hearty family meal, without the work! Pair with some veggies and rice, and we have the perfect quick meal without sacrificing!
5. Make Clean Up Fun!
Bellies full, the least favorite part about dinner is the clean up. Ugh, I know! It’s my least favorite part about dinner too. So make clean up fun! Turn on dancing music, increase the soap bubbles, and encourage the whole family to help (that one last board game before bed always seems to motivate my kids).
