What You Will Need

  • 11 Popsicle Sticks (I bought colored ones!), divided
  • 6-7 Small Rubber Bands – about dime size or smaller.
  • 1 Plastic Spoon
  • 1 Small Foam Cone
  • Glue
  • Easy-to-Launch Snacks, like Pirate’s Booty!

Directions

Snack launcher DIY

Let’s start with the field goal. Using 4 popsicle sticks, glue the ends together to create your goal post, like the picture above.

Carefully stick the end of the field goal into the top of your foam cone so it can stand on it’s own.

Now to create your DIY STEM Snack Launcher! Stack 5 popsicle sticks on top of each other. Rubber band each of the ends tightly to hold them together.

Take 2 popsicle sticks and place perpendicular to the stack, one on top and one on bottom of the stack. Rubber band the 2 perpendicular popsicle sticks together, to form an angle. You may want to add a second rubber band to keep firmly together. Wiggle the 5-stack as close as possible so it looks like the picture above. Place one rubber band on each end of the 5-stacks. Cross band them across the 2 perpendicular popsicle sticks, so you have an “X” holding the catapult together.

Now place your spoon on the top of 1 of the perpendicular sticks. Slide the end of the handle of the spoon carefully between the “X.” Use your last rubber band secure the top of the handle.

Ready to play? Place your snack piece in the spoon. Hold down and launch to get the snack between the goal posts!

Because they are gluten-free, it’s a snack that everyone in my family can enjoy since 1 family member has Celiac Disease and cannot eat gluten.
