Raising a girl is no easy feat. Moms, Here’s the Secret to Raising a Confident Daughter. This post is sponsored by Matilda Jane Clothing & the new Choose Your Own Path Collection. All empowering opinions are my own.

The Secret to Raising a Confident Daughter

Moms raising daughters – it’s a job that I take to heart every single day. It terrifies me to no end. But it also brings me some of the most indescribable joys.

At only 5-years old, I worry about building my daughter’s confidence. Am I teaching her to become the best possible person she can be? I’ll be the first mom to say that raising a girl is no easy feat. But here’s why we’re going to be ok.

Today I’m sharing the secret to raising a confident daughter. You CAN, mama. You CAN.

Read is my child a leader or a follower?

Raising a confident girl

Teach her to be assertive.

First, defining that little strong personality – yes, your daughter is a force to be reckoned with. Let your little girl make her own choices and stand firm on them.

Teach her to stand strong, to believe in her choices, and to help her know the difference between right and wrong.

How to raise a confident girl

Let her uniqueness shine.

Raising a confident daughter requires one unique little girl. I love when a fashion line brings out our child’s unique beauty. The newest back-to-school Choose Your Own Path Collection from Matilda Jane Clothing aims to showcase just how amazing your child is with simple silhouettes and patterns that express your girl’s one-of-a-kind uniqueness.

So whether your little girl wants to grow up to be a STEM loving scientist or a passionate musician, there’s a Matilda Jane Clothing piece cheering her on too.

The All The Right Notes dress for little girls is a beautiful example of how your child’s passion for fashion and music combine in one unique outfit.

The fun musical instrument pattern, the signature bold colors and designs, and the perfect “twirl” skirt, this dress allows my singing, dancing, musical-instrument playing girl to be just that. 100% her.

Raising daughters to be confident

Be truly interested in her.

Beyond just looks, be interested in every aspect of your daughter’s life – from academics to sports to books she loves to dreams and goals she has. Compliment her on more than just her physical beauty. Praise the beauty that lies within her mind, soul and heart too.

Be specific with your words and let your actions reflect how interested you are in her.

Model body acceptance.

Moms, this one hits me to the core. Those love handles? That mommy pouch? The countless stretch marks, wrinkles and age spots? That beautiful and confident little girl is watching her biggest heroine.

It’s you. How is she going to learn to be confident in her own skin if Mommy isn’t confident in her own?

For me, confidence builds when I have a great fashion piece that I feel good in. How do I even begin to describe this Chasing Waterfalls dress for women? Imagine your favorite buttery soft leggings are made into a dress – which guiltily feels like you’re wearing pajamas in public – but with all of the style of a runway model.

BONUS: pockets. A dress with pockets always wins.

Quality fabric with added stretch, flattering cut, a cinched tie waist, and sizing in petite and regular, I love how the Chasing Waterfalls Dress gives mom the confidence to show off her style and the flowy comfort to get those mom tasks done.

How to raise a daughter

Show empathy.

Girls are emotional creatures. Between the sensitivity, the tantrums and the hormones – it’s a messy emotional storm. Fiercely love on your child. Show empathy for her in all of the messiness.

How to raise a confident daughter

Praise the imperfect failures.

We tend to bubble our children, shielding them from the world. But confidence begins when we let them fly, even if they fall a few times first. Yes, this one is a hard one. Let our girls take risks, make mistakes, pursue dreams (even the crazy ones) and independently strive past them.

Positively reinforce how proud she makes you, even if there’s failure. Those imperfections and heartaches? They build confidence.

Believe that she CAN.

My 5-year old daughter can do anything, be anything and accomplishing anything she wants. She just has to believe that she can. And that’s only going to happen when you believe in her too.

Raising a confident daughter means believing in her with all your being. Don’t squash her dreams. Don’t block her goals. Believe in her.

Wow, nice! I love everything in this post. Although I have a young son, these things applies to boys as well. Being parent, as I’ve learned, does not get any easier as our kids grow older, but we can never give up. We must always be there for them. Sometime we make good decision, and sometimes bad, This is why we learn something’s as our kids learns. Thanks for the post
