Can we talk about what’s NOT in the new Star Wars: The Last Jedi Trailer? There’s definitely something missing and we need to chat about it. May contained commissioned links. #TheLastJedi
What’s NOT in the New Star Wars: The Last Jedi Trailer? #TheLastJedi
If you’re like me, you’ve watched the new Star Wars: The last Jedi Trailer at least 10 times. You have basked in the glow. You have hit the pause and rewind button a few more times than you’re willing to admit to your friends. You probably shed a few tears (ok, that was me).
But for me, there was something missing in the new Star Wars: The Last Jedi Trailer. And we need to talk about it.
Not Enough Oscar Issac
We have a spark that will light the fire that will burn the First Order down.
Did you have instant chills when you heard that line? Oh, this guy has started a fire within me. This raw passion that Oscar Issac has, it makes me want to join the resistance. I couldn’t get enough of Poe Dameron in The Force Awakens. I’m so glad to see this feisty resistance pilot back in the new Star Wars movie – and he already has a kick-*** line. But could I have seen a whole lot more of him in this trailer? OMGoodness, yes.
BB-9E
I’m still waiting for BB-9E to roll his way onto the screen (and for Disney to release official photos for me to share). We’ve got pictures and toys, but where’s the personality? Will BB-9E be the new BB-8? Will C-3PO & R2 be overshadowed by the new droids? What will be the purpose of BB-9E? I have so many questions for this little black droid.
Han
I had to say it. I miss him. This movie is not the same without Harrison Ford. Though yes, technically the rumors are still flying around about a flashback – but still. Not. The. Same.
Rose
Ever since I saw Chirrut in Rogue One, I knew there had to be so much more for Asian representation in Star Wars. A brand that has always embraced diversity, I now needed to see (more like desperately needed to see) an Asian female in a big role. And we all know it’s coming. So many teasers and interviews have suggested that Rose, played Kelly Marie Tran, is going to end up a hero in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. A resistance mechanic, a nobody, this little woman is going to team up with Finn in a big way – but we have no idea how.
And I was hoping, praying to see Rose in action in this trailer. I mean the first lead Asian female Star WARS character – this is a HUGE deal for me! I have been waiting all of my Star Wars life for this moment. I guess I’ll have to wait just a little bit longer. But hey, at least she made the new poster. Pretty amazing, right?
Now About What WAS in the New Star Wars: The Last Jedi Trailer
SNOKE! Can we talk about his face and his ultra creepy voice coming together in this movie?
The really cool upgraded AT-ATs (aka the AT-M6 Walkers) and other amazing Star Wars vehicles. Kylo Ren’s ship is still pretty darn cool too.
Kylo Ren – the look of torment on his face? Oh I can feel his emotions in this trailer.
Leia – All. The. Tears! I can’t even.
A royally pissed off Luke Skywalker – I mean, we’ve seen him angry. But I’ve never seen him in post-mid life crisis / older and wiser old man Luke all pissed off. It’s kind of flipping amazing.
Porgs and other new creatures – I’ll be honest. I’m not sold on porgs yet. Besides the obvious cuteness factor for toy merchandising…I’m really hoping these animals have a purpose in the movie. But can we talk about the amazing ice fox looking creatures?
A dark Finn – Another identity crisis seems to be in the midst for our hero, Finn. Though watching him rage out on Captain Phasma is going to be epic-ly awesome. Love that John Boyega.
Rey – strong-willed and female powered Rey. I love that Daisy Ridley‘s role as a strong female lead continues in this movie, with so many little girls (my daughter included) looking up to her.
Let’s be honest, we could go on and on about the 2 minutes and 34 seconds of the new Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer. And we should. Let’s keep talking about it. But let’s also talking about the parts that are missing – the parts that I’m desperately hoping pay off when we see it on the big screen. A lot of me is riding on the part of Rose. I get that. Let’s hope that Star Wars doesn’t let me down. Watch the new Star Wars: The Last Jedi Trailer here.
One thing is for sure, I cannot wait for December 15th, 2017. Don’t mind me as I watch the newest trailer about 50 more times. Because c’mon – Snoke and his ultra creepy voice and a very pissed off Luke Skywalker have made my ultimate must-watch TV for today. Sorry, Netflix.

I was also hoping for more Poe and to get a glimpse of BB-9E! And I did get all teary-eyed when Leia first appeared! I loved the part where Kylo Ren is extending his hand to Rey! I am so excited for this movie and I am so glad I already purchased my tickets for the early release.
