Child Water Safety Tips with Puddle Jumper Life Vest
One of the perks of living in Florida is swimming year round. There’s rarely a week where you won’t find us in or near some sort of water. With beach and pool time at peak levels for the summer, my two little fish are ready to take advantage of the Florida sunshine and swimming every day possible. But that also means that mom is on high alert this season.
Get ready for summer with these 4 Important Child Water Safety Tips, check out our new favorite child-friendly Puddle Jumpers Life Vests, and be sure to scroll down for a must-enter giveaway for this summer!
Sunscreen
Safety begins before your child steps into the water! Make sure your child’s skin is properly protected with sunscreen with at least SPF 15 – waterproof recommended for all of that water play!
Locate Help Before You Need It
Once you’re at your water play location, I always make sure I know where I can get help should the situation arise. I always make sure to have my phone fully charged and nearby (for emergency calls). We always locate the lifeguard on duty – making sure my kids know that they can get them for help. We always look for safety devices like life rings, shepherd’s hooks and seat cushions (thanks to our kids’ swimming classes!).
Use Your Eyes
Your eyes are the most important tool in keeping your child safe during water play. I always make sure that I have full visual range of my children at all time (don’t rely on peripheral vision alone!). Putting your children in BRIGHT bathing suits help too. Try to avoid any distractions that would take your eyes off your kids when swimming.
Have Safe Flotation Devices on Hand with Puddle Jumper
Living in Florida, I am fully aware of the huge risk of child drownings in my area. With almost every home having a pool or access to a pool, the stats are scary. While I do my best to make sure that my kids take swimming classes every year, any swimming situation can become a dangerous one. That’s why I’m so excited to share about the perfect kid-friendly and safe life vest options for your family with Puddle Jumper Life Vests. You may be already familiar with the name.

We LOVE our new Puddle Jumper Infant Hydroprene Vest. My daughter was so excited to wear it!
Not only is it pink and girly, but it’s comfortable, easy to slip on and off (love the built in zipper!) and gives my girl the confidence to play all year round. There are 2 adjustable buckle straps for the legs, a snug fitting head support and chest support, super soft fabric and a great design for maximum movement.

swimming at the pool,
or beyond, I love that Puddle Jumper is there to give me peace of mind for safe and FUN life vest support for my littlest fish. Be sure to follow Puddle Jumper via Facebook for the latest water safety products, tips, and more.

I’d love to be able to get a child size for my daughter. She’s just about to size out of her infant life vest and her grandparents’ house is on a lake. Whenever she plays in the yard or on the dock, she’s always got to be wearing her vest.
