5 Reactions to Having An Extra Day Off
Today is Labor Day, and in fine blogger fashion, I completely forgot. So to add a little humor to my blunder, here are 5 of my most common reactions when I realize that I have an extra day off. Enjoy your laugh for today!
1. The Classic Roll Over
No pictures, please! Too tired from the constant 5:30 wake up times, sometimes the no-reaction response occurs. A few extra hours (or in my case 5 minutes) of sleep? It’s a mom’s day off dream come true. Daddy’s shift!
2. Cue “We Are The Champions” Theme Song – in slow motion, of course
This is one of the best reactions. You feel on Cloud 9 all day. You’re doing multiple fist pumps in public. And you can’t help but Sing in the Rain. The sky is the limit with an extra day off. You’re optimistic and rejuvenated. You might even feel a bit naughty with that extra glass of wine.
3. The Grumpy McGrump
This is the person who needed the extra hours, had a project they could have worked on, or wanted to avoid seeing the in-laws on the day off. Pouting all day, they cannot wait for the work week to begin again. AKA, Party Pooper!
4. The End-of-the-World Workaholic Agony Cry
Hey, I know that you know one of these folks. This is Grumpy McGrump to the nth degree. Work is life. They would gladly tear off a toe in exchange for an extra day at work. You might see these folks sitting outside of their locked office building or furiously trying to type an office memo via their phone with a tear in their eye. Be sure to reassure these folks that having FUN is required for today and that we love them 🙂
5. Panic to Party
By far, this is my favorite reaction of late. The person’s face quickly morphs from a Mr. Hyde to a George Bailey “It’s a Wonderful Life” smile as the realization sets in that your day just went from zero to awesome!
Well, I may have forgotten, but hopefully you haven’t! Enjoy your day 🙂
