My 5 Biggest Stresses As a Mom
Stress and I are BFFs. Stress as a mom – we’re even tighter. Like the time my daughter almost died at a theme park HERE. Or the time my son didn’t come home from school HERE. Or when my whole family was filmed for two weeks HERE. The first step in stress management is identifying the stressors in my life. Where do I even start? Well, here are my top 5.
I am a worrier. I worry about my kids, A LOT: past, present and future. I worry about life outside of my control. I worry about yesterday. I worry about today. I worry about tomorrow. Basically, if I can worry about it, I do. I know it’s a terrible habit and something I strive to let go everyday – but let’s face it. Worry is a huge stress on a mom’s life.
Or insert overachieving. Or overbooking. Or overspending. Aka, there’s just not enough time in my day to get everything accomplished. I take on too much. There’s always a surprise or two. And definitely something I forgot.
See worrying and overplanning. Spending the whole day with stress definitely leads to nighttime stress. Managing motherhood, blogging and life in general – I definitely have late nights and early mornings to contend with. Not getting enough rest can be a huge stressor – and can result in one cranky mom.
Mom doesn’t get a day off, ever. Being sick may slow down the process, but definitely doesn’t stop me from the most important jobs in my day. Add in the extra sickness stress – and I’m basically a mess.
Can anyone see the baggys under my eyes? Is that a new wrinkle? Can I really wear my yoga pants to the grocery store…again? Will the world love and accept me? Confidence and acceptance are definitely challenges I struggle with everyday. I’d be lying if I didn’t call myself out.
