Preparing for the 2nd Grade Gifted Test | TestingMom Review

He failed.

I remember the day so clearly as I sat crammed into a small conference room with my son’s First Grade teacher and the guidance counselor. I had my son tested for gifted while he was in 1st Grade. As a mom with her first “baby” entering the school aged years, I admit that I had no clue what I was doing. My son was light years ahead of his class in Pre-K and Kindergarten. But I had no idea that I had to “request” to have him tested to skip a grade.

So he ended up with bad behavior. Boredom. And perhaps, didn’t get the full attention he needed to excel at a higher aptitude. So here I sat, listening to the 1st Grade teacher explain that he did not pass the gifted test. But that’s not all. He was unprepared. Unfocused. “It was like he wasn’t in the room.” And no one told him how important this test could be for his school career. I didn’t tell him. Then, I heard the silver lining.

All of 2nd grade would be tested for gifted.

We have another chance. The whole 2nd grade class would be tested for gifted this year. This time, I promised that we would be ready. We are preparing for 2nd grade gifted test with TestingMom.com. See why this is our #1 choice for gifted testing prep, grab your 100 FREE practice questions and get the best tips to prepare your second grader for the gifted test.

My (inattentive) ADD daughter tested as “gifted” at school but beyond the test the school (as usual California school budget cuts) does not provide anything beyond the test.. no guidance, special class, anything… what is the point?
