Tuckaway Shores Resort | 5 Reasons to Visit Old Florida #TuckawayShores

Have you ever experienced a taste of “Old Florida?” It’s the part of the state that’s tucked away from the usual travel path. Relaxation, quiet, a slower pace and a warm hospitality, all while taking in some of the best that Florida has to offer…can you smell the ocean air yet? I’ve had the absolute wonderful pleasure of staying at one of Florida’s best kept secret hotels, Tuckaway Shores Resort. Why does this hidden Old Florida gem have a piece of my heart? I’ve got 5 reasons for you to come and visit with your family.

Old Florida hotel

1. You Get a Real Key

I knew that I had stepped into a piece of Old Florida when I was handed my room key. There’s no credit card keys to be found in this resort. Little did I know how much pride this key held when I opened the door to my 3rd floor balcony room.

2. Each Suite Is Uniquely Old Florida

The moment you walk into your room, you’re instantly transported into the beach houses of old. From the wicker furniture to the nostalgic Florida decor, every piece of your room was hand selected to be a part of your stay. In fact, I’ve found that no two rooms are designed exactly the same. You’ll notice a small change in the seashell knick knacks. A change of color in the bedside table. A new piece of beach themed artwork. Tuckaway Shores makes a room as unique as you. And it’s really charming.

Just take a look around my room and tell me if you don’t feel the old Florida vibe?

3. Enjoy the Comforts of Home

A fully loaded kitchenette (um, full size refrigerator!), free WiFi, a flat screen TV in each room, and certification of over 5 years of White Glove Cleanliness awards, you’ll definitely enjoy all of the amenities and comforts, just like you were staying at home. I laugh as I remember that even the pristine white bath tub was cleaner than my own! And trust me, I’m definitely a creature of habit when it comes to staying in a “clean hotel.” Old Florida doesn’t mean old rooms. And Tuckaway really impressed me with how comfortable I felt in my little home away from home.

4. Above and Beyond Staff

Staff here are treated like family. And you can tell, they treat you like a family member as well. Every passing with a smile, a friendly greeting and a check on your stay, the Tuckaway crew really prides on making you feel like a welcome part of their day too. I was shocked that one of the ladies even had my name down for the rest of the trip, right after our first encounter. That’s Old Florida hospitality. Finding more ways to make sure that you stay is excellent, I was actually sad to leave these smiling faces.

5. Steps Away from a Quiet Beach

Let’s talk about the most amazing part of this resort. You are only a few hundred feet away from walking in the Florida sand. Tuckaway Shores Resort has their very own private beach entrance that’s literally a stone’s throw away from your room. Towels, chairs, showers all right there, Tuckaway entices you to their beautiful and secluded beach front. You have the perfect view of an Eastern sunrise and the rising of the full moon. You just get lost in the sounds of the ocean waves, the salty Florida air, the cool breeze. And off to your right and left, not an overcrowded high-rise to be found. Enjoy your serenity of the Indialantic beach footsteps away from your Tuckaway home.

Tips on Making the Most of Your Stay

When choosing a room, I highly recommend the 2nd and 3rd floor Oceanfront rooms. Here you will get some of the most gorgeous sunrises from your private balcony. Grab the 2nd floor Oceanfront suites if you want to nestle on your balcony with a good cup of coffee. Choose the 3rd floor Oceanfront room if you’re needing more living area space. The balcony footage here is smaller, but you get to enjoy a 3 sliding glass door open view of the ocean. Seriously breathtaking.

Take advantage of cooking a meal on the “Big Green Egg.” This state of the art baker/smoker/griller is just an amazing way to enjoy a taste of home at Tuckaway. Wood chips, tools, even the BBQ sauce is included with your stay. Just bring your favorite food to cook!

Bring your family. While this is a piece of Old Florida, that doesn’t mean it’s too old for your energetic kids. A heated pool, a collection of beach toys and a chance to really connect as a family, Tuckaway Shores is the place to be. Having that 2nd large family room is amazing for space and room to play, stretch out and lounge. And take advantage of your kitchenette with full size fridge! You can cook your family meals right in the room too and have enough storage space for your whole stay! And you’re not too far from the mouse either. You can still make a trek to Orlando, enjoy the theme parks and enjoy a relaxing stay at Tuckaway after the excitement. My kids need that down time, so I totally appreciate the serene Tuckaway location.

I’ll be honest. I went into this little Florida staycation not expecting to get much of anything out of it. Usually when we go to FL, we go to Disney, but this might be a good idea when the kids get older 🙂

I enjoyed my stay at Tuckaway Shores, and it was a pleasure to meet you Christie. I agree with your recommendation to stay in the second or third floor suites. I absolutely loved my view from the second floor balcony. I will be taking my family back for a weekend getaway.

There was so much to do on the Space Coast and I like that it is still close enough to visit the Orlando attractions during the day and stay at Tuckaway at night.

I’ve never been to the beachy parts of Florida, I was always inland when visiting. This look so inviting. Wonder if I can talk my husband into a little trip 😀
