It hit me hard with Teacher Appreciate Week this week. School is almost over. Summer is almost here! Two kids at home for the next few months is going to lots of FUN and at times super challenging – filling schedules, planning activities and most importantly, keeping my kids learning. So how do we balance learning and fun during the summer season? Grab these 5 Tips to Keep Kids Learning All Summer with Scholastic Weekly Reader: Summer Express Workbooks. Plus scroll down for an amazing summer prize pack GIVEAWAY!

Get into Nature

While I may not be a big fan of nature, I realize how important it is for our kids to learn about the world around them. We have tons of activities planned for summer to include hiking, camping, zoo visits and more.

Play Outside

I cannot express how important it is that my kids get outside in the Florida sunshine everyday. Whether we’re taking family bike rides around our neighborhood, visiting a one of our favorite Orlando splash pads, pools or water parks, playgrounds and more, we will definitely not be cooped up this summer!

Create

This has to be one of my favorite parts of summer! Give us glue, markers, paints and paper as we go nuts with crafting fun to help my kids express their creative sides. BONUS: they can take their time with their creations!

Get Unplugged & Bored

Parents, do you feel me? Our millennial kids really rely on being busy, especially when it comes to electronic entertainment. I definitely plan on having moments where we unplug this summer – no TV or video games or anything to distract us from the lazy days of summer. Allowing my kids to be bored is so wonderful – I find that this is when they play together the best!

These readers would be great to help kids through the summer keep their minds refreshed on being diligent on school type work. Keeping their minds working makes it less stressful when they go back to school. I’ve always had workbooks I came up with from what they had learned in the school year to work on during the summer. I wish I had something like this when she was growing up. My Grandkids have open minds that love to learn and what a great tool to accomplish that.
