4 Reasons Why Kids Will Love Ringling Bros Circus Xtreme
Another first for my baby girl in the books. She has officially seen her first circus ever. It was exciting, thrilling and strangely comforting that the Ringling Bros Circus Xtreme was my daughter’s first circus. And since it’s been a few years since we’ve been to the circus as a family, I there were quite a few changes made to the show. So with these changes, I’m going to tell you 3 Reasons why your kids will love the new Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus Xtreme.
1. Less Chaos
When we took our son to his first Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus show, about 3 years ago, I had one word to describe the events. Chaos. There were constantly 10-50 performers on stage at any one time, all performing different tricks. I found my eyes quickly darting back and forth between the mini performances on stage. Almost dizzying, distracting and exhausting at the same time.
With the new Circus Xtreme Show, I’m glad they’ve taken into consideration everyone’s brain processes. Not everyone can keep up with all of the activity on stage, and Ringling Bros. has definitely toned down the show to be more focused. When there were quite a few performers on stage, they were easier to follow. There were more focused performances and highlights versus competing shows. I think kids will really appreciate focusing on one major stunt or trick or performance for a few minutes, instead of stimulation overload.
2. New Modern Xtreme Stunts
While I definitely am a fan of the classic, the circus has had to compete with the ever growing technology, trends and extreme “wow” moments. The Circus Xtreme show definitely features some of the more “now” and popular stunts set to contemporary music, with people as the stars of the show. The trampoline bit definitely reminded me of another modern circus show, and the bike stunts, pendulum swing and dancing were updated to more modern tastes. A bit of pyrotechnics, light shows and other small features have made a nicer upgrade as well. And yet even for a small fee for the performance, I think the Circus Xtreme has upgraded for the better for 2015.
3. Everyone’s a VIP
I highly recommend coming to the new Circus Xtreme show at least 30 minutes prior. Everyone is allowed entrance to the stage floor to take pictures with the performers, say hi to the animals, touch and see some of the props and costumes. It’s a really nice perk and my son definitely enjoyed being a “part of the show” if only for a few minutes! Taking a pic with the tiger tamer had my son exclaiming “I met him!” when introduced on the stage. Pretty cool.
4. Your Ringling Bros. Favorites
Just because of all of the “new,” Ringling Bros. certainly hasn’t left out some of your childhood favorite circus moments. Contortionists, Tightrope Walkers, Clowns and your favorite animal icons are still a part of the show as well. It’s moments like these that the kids go “ooh” and “ah” for years to come. I certainly was on the edge of my seat and holding my breath as the tightrope performers were walking in a pyramid across the stage!

I’m so glad to hear about Ringling Brothers Circus Xtreme! It has always been a challenge to keep up with all the action. It sounds like it will be much more fun to visit the circus with less chaos and more organization.

I am definitely buying tickets when the circus comes to Milwaukee. This past summer we went to Circus World in Baraboo, Wisconsin. Home of Ringling Brothers Circus – I told the kids we will make sure to see the real circus when it comes to town.

This looks like such a cool circus to see. I wonder if there is one close to where I live. My kids would love to see it.

I think a circus would be fun to see in person. We had one come to town here but it wasn’t Ringling Bros. and it was a lot of big animals in a very small confined space so we opted out. 😉 I’d love to see the professional one though!
