6 Must Haves for Traveling with Kids + Bubble Bum Car Seat

Are you traveling with the family this summer? I AM! I cannot believe that May is almost here. In less than 3 weeks, my son will off with his dad on a fun “guys” trip to Las Vegas. Airplane trip included (and the most exciting part for my 6 year old), I am starting the packing process for my little man’s big travel adventure. Over 5 hours per plane trip, a car rental and quite a few famous sight seeing stops, I have a lot of So what are my Must Haves for Traveling with Kids? Well, besides clean underwear, you’re definitely going to want to keep these 6 important items in mind!

Travel with kids

Leakproof Cups with Lids

Don’t underestimate the importance of that lid! While most airports will not allow you elephant quantities of your child’s favorite drink, definitely pack clean cups with lids. Once on the airplane, you can fill the cup with your child’s liquid refreshment. No worries about spills and a pleasant child.

Snacks…the Smaller the Pieces the Better

I don’t know what it is. But when you combine kids with travel you always get the starving bear syndrome. I always make sure to pack my child’s favorite snacks when traveling, such as crackers (bonus for having letters/characters/numbers on them), grapes and When possible, go for the smaller pieces and hand it to them one at a time. This will help prolong the snack time and hopefully speed up the travel process.

Lovies

Travel and bring new and scary changes for your child’s normal routine. Make sure to pack a favorite lovie from home to keep your child feeling safe and secure through your trip. My son has his stuffed “Foot” and blankie that we pack for all of our trips.

Entertainment, Rotation Style

Those road trips, plane rides and detours can be long for anxious and excited children. Having amazing entertainment when traveling is the key to child fun and adult sanity. My best tip for travel entertainment for your kids is to have every activity on a rotation schedule. Now is the time to stock up on “NEW” toys/games/crafts (or long forgotten ones), education worksheets, music, electronics, and other activities that your children love. Organize everything into separate containers or bags and offer a new activity kit every 30 minutes to 1 hour. This keeps their attention, creativity and stimulation going, so they’re having way too much fun to be bored! Some of our favorite travel entertainment:

  • Matchbox cars
  • Stickers
  • Mini Puzzles
  • Flash Cards
  • Pipe Cleaners
  • Road Trip Bingo
  • Deck of Cards

Rewards

Parents, those kids work hard to stay quiet, keep the ants out of their pants and listen through your travel adventure. I love keeping small rewards on hand to let my children know how much I appreciate and love them, especially through new experiences like traveling.

Haha, well to be frank I would take it to my sister-in-law’s! Because she and brother take my niece to South Carolina for family trips, and with a drive from florida they would need this!
