A Look Inside General Mills Tour #PlatefullBloggerRetreat

I think I said “Thank You” about a million times. And I was constantly pinching myself the whole trip.

General Mills invited me….ME to be a part of their first ever Platefull Blogger Retreat. I joined 15 other amazing superstar bloggers on an amazing journey to Minneapolis, Minnesota to take a sneak peek behind the family company of General Mills. There was so much to be learned, seen and and of  course….EAT! To say that I was abundantly blessed and so fortunate to be invited would be an understatement. So what does one do on an all-expense paid trip to General Mills?

You Get Pampered

This was completely foreign to me. I do NOT get pampered, spoiled and get expensive ANYTHING paid for me. And when I do, it’s hard not to feel uncomfortable and stop myself from whipping out your wallet. Trying hard to focus on the positive instead of the price tag, I was amazed at the lengths the General Mills folks went to make us feel important, special and loved.

Spoiled with gifts

Breathtaking views from the 17th floor of a premiere hotel

Professional hair & make up session

Limo service everyday

Private car to and from the airport

You Eat….and Eat…and when you think there is no more food…you get competitive while you eat.

Breakfast in bed everyday

Gourmet dinners in some of the finest Minneapolis restaurants

general-mills-chopped-challenge

An exclusive Platefull Blogger Retreat “Chopped” Challenge. Our mission was to grab one of the new General Mills products. Then be randomly put into teams of 3 and cook a dish inspired by our products. Sounds simple, right? WRONG! Thanks goodness I was surrounded by 2 professional cooks on my team. I wouldn’t have gotten very far on my recipe at all! With my amazing team we created Chicken Fingerlings Wrapped in Bacon with Blueberry BBQ Sauce thanks to General Mills’ new Nature Valley Blueberry Bars, Nature Valley Coconut Bars and Food Should Taste Good Peppercorn Crackers. While we didn’t win the grand prize (uh yeah, iPad minis!), we certainly felt like winners! I couldn’t stop smiling!

You take home the knowledge of General Mills’ mission and purpose.

The highlight of my trip was getting a behind the scenes tour of the General Mills facility. HUGE expanses of skyscraper buildings filled with rich history, loved products and most importantly, passionate people.

I had no idea how much General Mills cares about PEOPLE.

Their workers….grocery store, credit union, beautiful artwork cycled throughout the year, even treadmills to walk on WHILE you work.

Their consumers….constant research for the next best thing, 19 kitchens to test their products and retest,  providing families with NOT just food or meals, but memories.

And at the end of the day, you realize that General Mills is just an amazing company.

This trip was so much more than a behind-the-scenes General Mills tour for me.

It was my first EVER all-expense paid trip. It reaffirmed for me that I am not just a blogger, but a darn good blogger. And having General Mills in my corner is just an amazing testimonial to the work I am doing.

WOW…what amazing, unforgettable memories in three short days! So for the millionth + 1 time, THANK YOU, General Mills!

Disclosure ~ I received a once in a lifetime epic all-expense paid trip by General Mills. I was seriously so blessed to even be chosen. While the trip was free, the opinions are 100% my own and the memories are priceless! How awesome! I wish more companies could do things like this. I know in the agriculture industry, iIthink this would be a HUGE help in dispelling the awful rumors about how we do things.

Wow! GM sure knows how to treat bloggers. I’ve been a huge fan of GM for years. I would love to be pampered for one full day. That food looks delicious.

That looks like a fantastic time! It is so nice to be pampered….now if I could only figure out a way to make that a daily thing. Hmmm…
