Chicago Girls Getaway Top 10 Things to Do
A few months ago, I published one of the hardest, rawest, most difficult posts of my life. I was depressed – unsure of what to do next with my life. Thankfully, two of my dearest friends knew exactly what I should do next. Travel. The Windy City had been on my travel bucket list forever. And thanks to a push of confidence, I boarded a plane last week for a Chicago Girls Getaway. In a few short days we experienced the best of the best, and the memories I’ll cherish for a lifetime. In case Chicago is on your travel bucket list, I encourage you to find your confidence to experience the best of The Windy City – with the Top 10 Things to Do for your next Chicago Girls Getaway.
Smile at The Bean at Millennial Park
It’s not a trip to Chicago without seeing the most famous Chicago icon. Lovingly called The Bean, the “Cloud Gate” sculpture at Millennial Park is even more beautiful in person. A must see!
Enjoy the View at The Navy Pier
One of my favorite Chicago sightseeing trips was to The Navy Pier. With so much to see and do from visiting the Botanical Garden to walking the famous boardwalk area, I couldn’t get enough of the views surrounding us on all sides!
Make a Splash at The Shedd Aquarium
Sharks, belugas, and dolphins – oh my! Be sure to head to The Shedd to see one of the largest indoor aquariums in the world! Beautiful varieties of fish, sea life and habitats are swimming with fun. We loved discovering natural beauty here.
Experience 360 Chicago
The birds-eye views are breathtaking on top of the John Hancock building! Get a unique view of the city at 360 Chicago. You won’t regret it!
Taste The Best Chicago Eats
The food in The Windy City is incredibly unique. From their gourmet pizzas (our Chicago Pizza Tour was to die for!) to flavorful dipped Italian Beef Sandwiches to fine dining at one of their many iconic Americana inspired restaurants, we definitely ate our share of amazing Chicago-only food.
Stroll the Shores of Lake Michigan
Chicago is a unique city that happens to border the biggest of the Great Lakes. Make sure to take a moment to stroll the shores of Lake Michigan – with breezy feels alongside towering views!
Visit “Sue” at The Field Museum
The history is rich at The Chicago Field Museum. Endless halls of ancient relics, timeless collections and priceless smiles can be found inside one of the many floors of this architectural gem. And standing in the middle of the main floor is one of the largest and most complete T-Rex fossils ever found, aka “Sue.”
Shop The Magnificent Mile
A girls getaway is never complete without a little shopping! From high end boutiques to skyscraper sized malls, The Magnificent Mile along Michigan Street is the best place to get your shopping fix.
Take Some Well-Deserved R&R
I think one of the best decisions I made was to leave work behind on this trip. Consider in indulging in a relaxing spa treatment, rest in one of Chicago’s many shady parks, or just enjoy a leisurely exploration tour of the city.
Capture Picture Perfect Memories, Thanks to Financial Confidence
Plane tickets, hotel rooms, dinner bills – a girls getaway can add up quickly. Just the thought of spending money on myself gives me heart palpitations. The truth is, I would have never considered traveling to one of my bucket list big cities without a boost of self-confidence. And recently, I found that conquering my depression and discovering more of that soul-searching self-confidence stems from my financial confidence.
2016 was one of the most successful years ever for my little blog. By hiring help, getting a grip on time management, pitching my “worth,” and even finding my voice to say “NO” when times were stressful, I was able to grow my business beyond the goals I had for the year. Feeling financially stable and overcoming business obstacles really helped me to see my true potential as a small business woman – so much so that I really felt empowered to finally book that Chicago Girls Getaway, something I would have never done years ago.
