Valentine’s Day Toddler Craft | Fingerprint Cupid’s Arrows

Have I told you lately how much of a sucker I am for hand print/footprint art?

Maybe the season of love has gotten me extra mushy today, because I have your child’s next masterpiece right here. Fingerprint Cupid’s Arrows, it’s the next big Valentine’s Day toddler craft. I’m just saying. I’ve always loved the adorable fingerprint crafts that pop up this time of year. But to be honest, I thought the kids craft department needed an upgrade from the usual thumbprint hearts.

Taking things a few messy steps forward, we have this adorable new artwork for your wall. Let’s all “awwwwww” together as we make this Valentine’s Day crafting with your kids even more memorable. Grab your finger paint and your child’s little hands as we get all mushy with love! paint!

What You Will Need:

• Paper
• Red Finger Paint
• Red Striped Paper Straws
• Scissors
• White Glue

Directions:

First, let’s cut the straws. You can keep them whole if you want, but the arrows go much further (get the pun?) if we have lots on hand. So I cut mine in half. Now it’s time to get out the paint.

Start with the thumbs. Making your usual thumbprint hearts, overlap two thumbprints on one end to create the tip of the Cupid’s arrow on a piece of paper. Do as many as you desire, from one to ten to fifty if your toddler desires. The more hearts the better, right?

Now you’re going to eyeball the straws for the tails of your arrows. Using one of your cut straws, lay the tip in the nook of one of your hearts. Taking a smaller digit, dip into the paint and fingerprint on either side of the other end of the straw. I did about 4 total (2 on each side) per arrow. You may want to do more or less. Up to you 🙂

Time to glue the middles of the arrows. Glue down the straws into place to connect the tips and the tails of the arrows. Voila. An adorable toddler craft for Valentine’s Day, complete with the little outline of your child’s fingerprints. Yes, you’re going to want to save, preserve and hold onto this masterpiece for life.
