5 Ways to Save for a Sunny Day
We all know the saying. “Save for a rainy day.” It’s so cliche and yet so negative at the same time. Sometimes, I feel that expression just mocks my ability to be able to obtain my goals. Can you hear the laughter? So that makes me wonder, why do you have to save for a rainy day? Couldn’t we save for a sunny day too? So today, I’m changing that dreary, rainy disposition with 5 ways to save for a sunny day.
1. Have a Positive Attitude
Time to get rid of the “rainy day” mentality, folks. No more negative thinking. Go into your sunny day savings goals with the right attitude, and a positive one. Positive minds have positive goals. And positive goals have positive results.
2. Don’t Be Afraid to Dream
You know what sunny day I’d love to save for? A family cruise. It’s been a dream of mine, ever since my girl was born. Albeit an expensive dream, it’s a sunny day that to me, is worth saving for. Don’t be afraid to dream BIG for your savings goal. Whether a family vacation, purchasing an investment, getting out of debt or entering the next phase of your life, find your savings dream and reach for it.
3. Set Goals, Even Mini Ones
Nothing to me is more motivating than making a check mark in the box. Setting goals for your savings, even mini ones can help motivate you to reach your sunny day potential.
4. Set Up a Sunny Day Fund
Setting up a savings fund can help you to separate your normal everyday expenses from your “sunny day” goals. Think about opening a Money Market account or CD that will accrue interest over time, a great incentive to keep saving!
5. Seek Financial Advice
I think the hardest part about saving is knowing when you need help. Money management can get overwhelming, especially with budgets, family factors and emergencies to consider. Don’t let the “cat get your tongue” (see how I put in yet another odd cliche?). Seek financial advice to help you reach your goals.
